As any parent will tell you there comes a time when you little darling just won’t go to sleep and where you would literally try anything that helps. Have you tried sleep aids? These devices can make all the difference to the first few months of parenthood and could possibly just save your sanity. Filbert the bear from myHummy, is a smart little bear, approx 19x36cm, with a bowtie and checked sleeves, soft but not fluffy or as cute as some other sleep aids on the market. It is a, dare I say it, classy toy, available in light brown or ash grey, not a bright primary colour in sight. Not only does he look smart, but he is a hard-working bear and will look after your little one through the night. Due to his size and more classic design, I’m not sure how much he will get played with in the daytime, but who cares if he helps to get bubs to sleep. His magic lays within the removeable white noise device that slides in to his tummy via a zip pocket, different clicks will activate different things. Firstly there are five different white noise varieties, all equally annoying to my ears but soothing to a baby’s unrefined tastes, choose from: a hairdryer, vacuum cleaner, ocean waves, falling rain and amniotic fluid with heartbeat.

To be honest they all sound very similar with slightly different beats, they can all be activated by quickly double clicking the button. To set the volume press and hold the button until it reaches the desired level and triple click the button to activate the non-stop mode and help your little one sleep through the night. The sounds will play for 60minutes, which is twice as long as some of the most popular sleep aids, and then gently fades to silent. The coolest feature is the sleep sensor which will turn the white noise on again in the event of your baby waking up, this could just be enough to sooth them back to sleep without you even having to put a toe out of bed.

All these features do take their toll on the batteries and you can bash through them quickly. Depending on how you have the sound device positioned, it can stick out a bit of the bear and be a bit hard, but on the plus when the sound device is removed the bear is machine washable, always a bonus. This bear might not be the cutest, and with that bowtie and a name like Filbert he has defiantly been on a ‘gap yah’ with daddy’s money, but don’t let the fact that he is a posh-o make you think he won’t work hard at helping your baby sleep.
