Swimovate PoolMate 2

The PoolMate 2 takes distance counting to the next level by allowing you to track your distance in open water, perfect for triathlon training or just exercising out in the elements. It allows you to keep track of laps, strokes, distance, speed, efficiency, duration, sets, rest time and calories in the pool and in open water (minus the lap count in open water) and stores 50 sessions for recall, records and is water resistant to 50m and includes a 24 hour clock, alarm and a chrono mode for timing other sports.

iHealth Edge Activity and Sleep Tracker

As more and more activity trackers flood the market it is hard to know where to start, the iHealth Edge is offering all the tech for half the price but is it true that you get what you pay for? Let’s take a look at what you get with the iHealth Edge, as you would expect this activity monitor tracks your steps, sleep, calories and measures it against your personal goals, it also displays the time and can tell you how you have performed with feedback display.

Gymwatch Sensor

At first look you may mistake this for just another activity monitor but the Gymwatch Sensor is like having a personal trainer attached to your body, it’s not about what you ate that day or how many steps you need to take this is aimed at a more serious workout in the gym, specifically using weights. The Sensor comes with two different sizes of Velcro straps to use on either your arm or leg and has a companion app that is necessary to work alongside the Sensor as there is no screen.

Bellabeat Leaf Activity Tracker

In amongst the many, MANY activity trackers out there the Bellabeat Leaf stands out with its beautiful feminine design. It can easily be mistaken for a piece a jewellery instead of an activity monitor when in fact it is both natural wood and stainless steel. Depending on which model you choose, you’ll get a light wood with silver stainless steel leaf or a dark wood with a rose gold leaf.

Moov Now Personal Fitness Coach

The Moov Now is more than your average activity tracker, this device will actually coach you during your activity making your workout more efficient, increasing your fitness and weight loss. The Moov Now can coach you whilst you run, cycle, swim and during a 7minute intense workout, it can also coach you through cardio boxing but you will need two devices, one for each hand, meaning double the price.

Nuband Activ+

The Nuband Activ+ is a fitness tracker that monitors activity and sleep, it allows you to set silent alarms, will give you reminders when you have been inactive for too long and works alongside a companion app. You don’t have to spend a fortune to get an activity tracker these days and the Nuband Activ+ is a prime example of this, the strap and tracker feel and look good quality, I like that the Nuband Activ+ can display the time unlike my Fitbit Flex (much to the annoyance of my very young nephew who keeps calling it a clock).

Polar V650

The V650 gives you everything the M450 has to offer as well as the OpenStreetMap feature and Route guidance allowing you to see exactly where you are on the map whilst on the go. It also boosts a large 2.8” colour touch screen, it is understandably heavier at 122g to the M450’s 50g, it gives you the same accurate altitude data with the built-in barometric pressure sensor, compatible with the free Polar Flow web service and with the Polar Bluetooth Smart heart rate and cycling sensors.

Polar M450

The M450 is a different kettle of fish all together. It is a GPS tracker designed specifically for a bike with an integrated barometer for precise altitude functions, you can track your speed, distance and route, you can set the display to show the data you want, use external Polar Bluetooth® Smart sensors to get information like heart rate, speed, cadence or power.

Polar Loop Crystal

The Polar Crystal Loop is an activity tracker that is also trying to be an elegant piece of jewellery. In my humble option it looks tacky, its silicone wristband has been adorned with delicate Swarovski crystals which clash with the thick strap, it looks tacky and half hearted, aesthetics aside this doesn’t have as much to offer as the A360. You need the Polar H7 heart rate monitor to use the Energy Training, Training Benefit and Heart Rate During Training features but you do get the sleep tracking feature.

Polar A360

Starting off with the A360 this is a wrist-based heart rate monitor that keeps you in the right heart rate zone whether you are circuit training, cycling, jogging or even walking, as well as the heart monitor the A360 also tracks your steps, calories, training and sleep patterns and the Activity Guides give you feedback. You can link the A360 to your phone so it will vibrate on your wrist when you get a message or phone call or to remind you of an important date in your calendar.
