The XPRT® 3.0 from 5.11 Tactical® is a waterproof boot, with a plenty of features to keep your feet protected from the elements, available in Black or Dark Coyote (that’s brown to you and me), from size 7 all the way through to 15. The XPRT® 3.0 has aimed to combine the comfort of a sports shoe with the durability of a safety shoe, constructed from a high quality full grain leather that has a polished finish. The design looks like a walking boot, I think it’s a love it or hate it style, I wasn’t keen. It looks a bit clumpy and inelegant but its performance that really counts with these shoes. The leather is soft enough to be comfortable straight out of the box and will only get better with time as they mould to the shape of your feet.

The boots are fully waterproof with the combination of the full grain leather and eVent® BBP Waterproof Membrane Lining, they are also blood borne pathogen-proof, the outsole is a VIBRAM® Ananasi with PU midsole and uses the VIBRAM® Megagrip formula to ensure a good grip on both dry and wet surfaces. The shaft measures approximately 6" from arch, it includes the 5.11 Shock Mitigation System® for extra support, the new OrthoLite® Imperial foot bed provides a springy step for higher energy return and reduced fatigue, it also has a Kevlar® integrated heel and side ankle for prolonged protection against abrasion. The XPRT 3.0 are nice and comfortable, but the laces don’t draw in the whole boot well, so they take a little time putting on to ensure a snug fit all the way down the top of the foot, the laces are also very thin which makes me question how long they will last. The rest of the boot is very tough, they are easy to walk in for long periods of time, however they do not breath very well, so your feet can get quite warm. Regardless, they are still a good choice for an all-round, hard wearing boot, with good support and traction they will keep you steady on your feet all day. RRP £185
