I have always struggled standing still for any length of time, I discovered this when I was 7 and a hairdresser asked me to stand still for the duration of the of the haircut, I passed out. I can walk and walk all day, dance at a gig all night, but ask me to simply stand and my body goes wrong. I’m like the soldier face-planting the tarmac during an official ceremony. I will happily sit anywhere to prevent this light headiness, I’m not fussy, but not everyone is comfortable sitting on the ground, or has the mobility to get up and down easily, plus you may get dirty. The Bagobago is a unique backpack that can transform into a handy stool, like Optimus Prime minus the alien weaponry. The chair is built into the interior of the backpack and unlike other portable stools you can use a full 22L of storage in the bag too.

Produced exclusively in the Czech Republic, the Bagobago is manufactured from high quality water-proof materials, the legs of the stool are hidden behind a removable, washable cover (the whole backpack is washable too), the bag is quite compact at 20.87“H x 13.78“W x 7.87“D, and is surprisingly light at just 1.6kg. It will take a weight load of up to 130kg or just over 20 stone. The Bagobago is available in five colours, Black, Gray, Green, Bordeaux and Turquoise. It wears reasonably comfortable on your back, the straps feature the most padding I have ever come across for shoulders and are super comfy, though some of it could be redistributed around the tailbone just to prevent pressure points forming during longer journeys. The zips are a bit sticky every now and again which can be frustrating, there is also a removeable hip belt for extra support (as well as a fixed sternum strap) however it lacks any padding, so it isn’t the most comfortable. The stool is easy to set-up but the seat is very hard, again, I think some of that padding in the shoulder straps could have gone into being kinder on the behind because sitting for any length of time gives you a numb bum. All things considered, the Bagobago is a cool idea but lacks comfort which only makes it suitable for short periods of time, however if they throw in an attachable padded seat, I’m sold. RRP €135
