Lara Designs was founded in 1986 by industrial designer Louis A. Lara, with a dream of bringing products of his own design to market, as well as curated pieces from other design colleagues. All his products’ designs reflect his unique aesthetic and attention to detail, and the Harley Pepper Mill & Spice Grinder is no different.

Who says practical can’t be beautiful? Certainly not Lara Designs. The Harley Pepper Mill is a precision-made kitchen tool, crafted to impress the most style-conscious chefs or dinners. The first thing that struck me was weight (luckily not literally, or I would be dead!) At 2lbs, this thing is heavy, so you will be working your muscles whilst you prepare your food. The Harley Pepper Mill is manufactured in the USA from solid, aircraft-grade aluminium, and it features a ceramic milling mechanism to grind up your pepper or spices.

The pepper mill can be adjusted by the mechanism on the base of the mill that allows you to move from course ground to fine ground and everywhere in-between. The body has a textured diamond pattern design that helps provide a firm grip whilst using the mill, even in greasy paws, and the nylon bearing inside promises a lifetime of smooth action between aluminium parts, enough to include a lifetime warranty. The top is securely attached to the mill, so much so that it takes a pretty big tug to get it off. When we did this, the plastic washer went flying across the kitchen - this could become a messy experience if there’s anything in the mill!

The Harley Pepper Mill comes beautifully packaged in a deluxe slip-sleeve and clam-shell package designed in black and orange, and has dimensions of 8.625" tall x 2.25” diameter (219 mm tall x 57 mm dia.). The Harley Pepper Mill & Spice Grinder is a beautifully crafted kitchen product - if you’ve got it, it will grind it, and it will last you a lifetime. RRP $249
