The packaging is a great indicator of the experience I was about to have with the Nutri Ninja, there is loads of information, photos and descriptions plastered all over the box making it quite busy and intimidating and when I opened the box I found loads of little boxes like Russian dolls, each with lots of complicated looking bits inside. As a kitchen system you get a lot of gear for your money, 1500 watt motor base, 500ml Nutri Ninja cup, 650ml Nutri Ninja cup, pro extractor blade assembly, two spout lids, 1.8L food processor bowl, chopping blade assembly, dough blade assembly, feed chute lid, spindle for discs, slicing / shredding disc, grating disc, 2.1L pitcher, pitcher lid with locking handle, stacked blade assembly, recipe inspiration guide and the Nutri Ninja bible the instruction book. Simplified, the kitchen kit is a precision food processor, blender and personal blender, this all-in-one system has eight different speeds and includes five Auto-iQ programmes that can be activated with one touch, delivering unique pulse, pause and blend patterns suited to the specific food or drink you want to make reducing the chance of over processing.
Whether you want to slice, shred, chop, grate, knead, mix, blend, make sauces, soups, dips, doughs, salads, patties, pancakes, drinks, desserts, breads, batters, cocktails, cookies, pesto or pizza, the Ninja can help you achieve it all. It can be easily converted from processor to blender with the 2.1 litre jug. It utilises Total Crushing Blades, and a 1500watt motor that rotates from 850 to 20,000 RPM, to prepare food quickly, but you won’t be able to whip up a sneaky midnight snack due to the noise it kicks out. All the components are well made, the only thing I don’t like is the buttons, they look and feel a bit dated and lower quality. You are going to need a lot of space for all the accessories and the unit (45 x 29.5 x 18cm), all the parts are dish washer safe and BPA free. One issue that may prevent some people from using it is that it isn’t suitable for hot liquids, this could restrict use.
Testing the Nutri Ninja was good fun as it involved lots of food, one of my favourite things, and I managed to chop and blend wonderfully, evenly chopping onions in an instance (one of my least favourite things), it made short work of coffee beans, and was good at making cocktails too, it doesn’t juice so if you are into your juicing that’s another appliance you will need. There are lots of tools to play with and they all performed well, it is simple to use and clean (no staining or left-over residue), you may just need some ear plugs if you are using it for long periods of time. This is serious over kill if you are just wanting to make the odd smoothie now and then, but ideal for those who love home cooking, or those who enjoy entertaining due to its power, speed and high performance.
