The sun is out, the great outdoors is calling and whether you spend the week living in a field (preferably in a tent or caravan) or simply get out in your garden, local park or industrial estate car park, wherever you end up there’s nothing quite like chilling outside and dining alfresco. The Xcelerate Stove with Double Burner and Toaster from Campingaz provides 2 x 2200W with a gas consumption of 2 x 165 g/h + 75 g/h, it can boil a kettle (at 3 m/s wind speed) in 10 minutes for 1L. The unit folds down into a briefcase style body for transportation (55.5 x 44.5 x 46cm), it isn’t the lightest to transport about at 7kg but the carry handle makes it easy, it can run off a R904 or R907 Butane/Propane cylinder and has a run time of 9 ½ hours (R907) and 7 ½ with the toaster, a 5kg cylinder will give you 16 hours and 12 ½ hours with the toaster.

The Xcelerate technology speeds up cooking time, especially in windy conditions, these burners will fits pans sized 16 - 26cm and the wind-blocking pan supports provide the ultimate wind resistance for your gas stove flame. The additional infrared grill is ideal for toasting bread, crumpets, halloumi or marshmallows, whatever you can get under there. The patented burner creates a low but powerful flame and features a down step burner design, making the flame even more wind resistant, the removable legs take a little time to attach and detach, but you can leave them on for the entire holiday and take them off when storing the stove away at the end of the season. You also need to ensure you lift the burner unit up at both ends until you hear a click before trying to lower the lid, if there is any resistance or the gas port doesn’t line up with the bases cut away then this has probably not been performed correctly, annoyingly it is easily done. Another annoying thing is that the position of the handle means it gets in the way when closing the latch, the latch as well as the handle feels low quality, which makes me question its durability over time. The stove itself is easy to use, the Piezo Ignition gets you lit up in no time, even in windy conditions, the heat is easily adjusted, the grill gives you even more cooking options, and after everyone is fed it is super easy to clean down. The Campingaz 400st Xcelerate Stove with Double Burner and Toaster is a great stove that provides versatile cooking options and can be brought out and packed away as quickly as our weather can change its mind.
