These rather attractive boots from Haix have been designed for walking in mountain and undulating terrain suitable for stalking and still-hunting. The Nature One GTX are available in both men’s and women’s versions and come in sizes 6-15(M) and 3-9(W) with half sizes available throughout both ranges. These boots have a brown and olive colour theme in both genders, with orange highlights on the laces in the men’s and pink highlights on the laces in the women’s (I heard a rumour that if women wear technical footwear that doesn’t have pink on it, they automatically grow moustaches).

These boots are constructed from Nubuk leather, which is hydrophobic as well as breathable (4.0 mg/cm²/h), measuring up at 2.6 – 2.8 mm thick, with their weight up at a rather hefty 825g. The inner lining has GORE-TEX Performance, 4-layer GORE-TEX laminate, which prevents any moisture, snow, puddles or rain water from getting in, whilst at the same time allowing sweat and heat to escape from inside the shoe, preventing your feet from overheating and becoming damp.

There is a highly abrasion-resistant lining with fleece mid-layer for comfort and warmth, which allows for use throughout the entire year. The insole is constructed from a combination of plastic and fleece - this is moisture absorbent and has an anti-torsion design for stability and reducing point pressure from stones for example. The Foot bed is comfortable, featuring impact-absorbing, moisture wicking, antibacterial properties, and a separate heel cup for optimised cushioning and foot guidance. The rubber/PU walking sole has street/terrain tread for traction on slippery surfaces, and it is also wear-resistant with large, bevelled contact surface and a comfortable amount of flexibility. These boots are oil and petrol resistant with non-marking characteristics. The HAIX Vario Wide Fit System allows the width of the shoe to be individually adjusted by three different insoles, and the HAIX Climate System uses the pumping movement, which permits air circulation with every step forcing warm air out of the shoe through the vent holes at the top of the boot. Other features include the fast lacing system, with clamp hooks and rubber sidewalls for better durability, 19cm high for better ankle support. These boots certainly aren’t the lightest available, but they are comfortable, flexible and provide firm footing for long treks in all weather conditions. RRP £224.90
