Winter can be an especially dangerous time for cyclists, the dark mornings and afternoons along with bad weather can make it particularly hard to remain visible to other road users. The Laserlight has come up with a unique way to let other road users become aware of your presence. According to Beryl’s research, 79% of cycle accidents occur when the cyclist is travelling straight ahead and a vehicle manoeuvres into them, probably because they haven’t checked their left rear-view mirror. Due to this information, the Laserlight was created with a front light that projects a bright green bicycle laser symbol six metres in front of you, this lets pedestrians and drivers see that a bicycle will soon be passing by. There is also traditional white light that can produce up to 300 lumen and have three different modes to choose from including a strobe, all this light takes a lot of energy and it will take a four-hour charge to get just 2.5hours of constant use, however you will get up to 13hour when used on the flashing strobe.

The charging cable has a USB connection which makes it easy to take with you can charge up through your USB port at work, however due to the exclusive magnetic connection to the light, you can only use this lead and not one of the hundreds of micro USB or USB C cables you have all over the place, the magnetic connection isn’t very strong so it easy to knock the wire slightly off angle and break the connection and stop charging. The box contains the unique mount which will fit handle bars with a diameter of 24mm to 31.8mm and has three different silicone inserts to ensure a precise fit, the bracket is made from marine grade steel to withstand the elements, the light then easily clips into the bracket with the help of the magnetic mechanism. The light has a pleasing design made from tough aircraft ready aluminium, anodised and sandblasted with diamond cut edges for a clean and smooth finish, it isn’t the lightest at 182g and is quite large at 15 mm (L) x 33.9 mm (W) x 44.6 mm (H), so it might put off the elite road cyclist who count every gram. The Laserlight is quick and easy to attach and detach, it has premium build quality and that laser image brings a new layer to visibility, whether its worth that hefty price tag however remains to be seen.
