It is so important to keep active during the winter no matter how tempting it is to simply curl up under the duvet and hibernate the entire season away, it is doubly important to ensure when you do go out in the dark mornings and evenings that you can be clearly seen, especially when cycling on the roads. The Switch Jacket from Proviz is a reversible jacket that gives you two options when in the saddle, choose between either the fluorescent yellow waterproof which helps you to be seen in the daytime and low light or the highly reflective reverse layer which lets you be clearly seen in the dark.

The Switch is constructed from lightweight dual layers, the reflective material used is the same as the highly popular REFLECT360 range and it is certified to CE EN 20471 standard, the reflective side has a waterproofing rating of 10,000mm, it will reflect the light back from street lights, vehicle lights and torches from every inch of the jacket, you will be visible front, back and sides, above and below. This jacket has been specially designed for cycling and has a perforated back to help aid with ventilation, there are also two separate side vents to keep you cool by encouraging air flow between the layers, these can also double up as extra pockets. The cuffs are elasticated to keep out the wind and rain, it is longer in the back for protection when in the riding position, no one likes wind and rain getting down the back of your trousers. The two large side pockets for storing essentials are within easy reach during the ride, the zip pulls are a little small and thin, it could do with larger grips to make the pockets easier to access with cold fingers or gloves.

We loved the versatility of this jacket, you don’t need to consider if you have the right gear to stay out a little later, simply flip it inside out and your golden (well silver). It might not be technical enough for hardcore fitness riders, it isn’t a tight fit, we also found the main zip can be a little sticky and when wearing the reflective side directly next to the skin it feels plasticky and causes some sweating, however it is great for commuting and light exercise, keeping you safe and visible though the darker months.
