The Cardo Scala Rider Q3 multiset intercom is the newer model to take over from the great predecessor, the Q2. I have ridden with the Q2 for 6 months now and I think I would be lost without it.

The Q3 in helmet headphones are comfortable, in fact you don’t even know they are there.  The system connects to my phone so I can both speak and access my MP3, with an additional 6 built in radio stations. The multiset is particularly great for me on weekends when catching up with friends. In the past we would have to pull over for a chat at certain intervals, however the Q3 allows us to chat whilst riding, at distances of an astounding 1km apart.

The Q3 uses the latest version of the Bluetooth technology, with the system much easier to use than the past models. The buttons are less fiddly and more interactive in thicker winter gloves. It still comes with both the clamp mount and the sticky mount which has always been a very solid feature; so I guess if it ain’t broke…! The older model could be paired for 3 people but you had to take turns in talking, one on one off.  Now you can link up 4 units at once and chat more openly in a conference kind of style. You can also play music via Bluetooth and share with passengers. The intercom has 8 hours talk time, 1 week standby and is water resistant. They are sold in single and dual packs and come really nicely packaged. I know these are not the cheapest but they do feel a very quality product.

New features include the addition of a jack plug socket (so you can fit in your own headset or earbuds) and a neat mic boom with less wiring or a stick on mic provided. You can even connect it to your PC or Mac to keep the information up to date. If you haven’t ridden with this type of technology you should try it, (I wasn’t convinced before I used them and now I love it). The Cardo Scala Rider Q3 multiset intercom certainly makes the riding experience a more engaging one, as you listen to music and chat over the phone. RRP £239.99
