AlcoSense Elite 3 Breathalyzer

£69.99

As we enter the Christmas season, we are constantly getting invited to parties and festive events which quite often include alcohol. However, more often than not the next morning we’re still feeling the after-effects, and a big part of this is knowing how much alcohol is still in your system – especially if you have work or need to drive early the next day. This AlcoSense personal breathalyser allows you to understand your alcohol levels and have a greater awareness of how much can still be in your system the morning after - even when you may feel sober.

As the most reliable premium semi-conductor alcohol sensor for this price point on the market, the Elite 3 gives you clear and consistent results to know your levels every time you drink. The Elite 3 can be set to different legal limits. For England and Wales it is 0.8‰BAC, but in Scotland the limit is lower at 0.5‰BAC. Then you attach the small straw and after only a 6-second breath sampling the inbuilt air flow sensors check the concentration of alcohol in your breath. It needs roughly 1.2 litres of air to get a good sample, which usually takes an average person 6 seconds of deep lung air to achieve. However, the breathalyser will tell you if you haven’t given a long enough sample which is great.

After you give your sample, a green, amber, or red light will be shown. The green light indicates that you are below 0.10‰BACand shows ‘LO’ on the screen. This indicates that there is either no alcohol or only a very small trace of alcohol detected in your sample. If you get an amber light, it will display the alcohol level in your sample, but the amber light means that you are below your set limit. However, if you get a red light along with your reading it means you are very close, if not over your limit. Along with the red light a ‘don’t drive’ symbol will appear to indicate you should not get behind a wheel. The colour-coded indication makes knowing your limits easy to see at a glance, but the readings are great for knowing just how close to your limit you are.

The AlcoSense is ideal for the morning after a Christmas party to check whether you’re safe to drive or not before you even consider getting behind the wheel. Often after sleeping people feel that they are not as drunk, however, you can still be very much over the limit so the breathalyser helps you to make safer decisions for yourself and other drivers and opt for public transport should you be even slightly close to the limit. For the price point, the Elite 3 gives great accuracy, however, more pricey breathalysers can give you more detailed and even more accurate results.

Overall, the AlcoSense Elite 3 is a great companion to help you make smarter and safer decisions. This handy reusable device allows you to accurately measure your limits with its easy-to-use system and intuitive colour result displays. If you like to have a drink and want to make sure you are remaining safe, the Elite 3 is a great choice to have more knowledge about the alcohol levels in your body.

Pros:

  • Knowledge of your own alcohol levels to make better choices
  • Premium accuracy for the price point
  • Easy-to-use and easy-to-read display
  • Can be recalibrated annually for the longevity of reading accuracy

Cons:

  • If you require even more accurate results you may need to purchase a more expensive product in the range, as the Elite 3 is top for its price range but not as accurate as the next range up which uses fuel cell sensors
