JOBY is known for bringing their customers innovative and user-friendly designs to allow customers to delve into the world of content creation with their range of top-quality audio devices, tripods, mounts, lights, etc. The JOBY Wavo POD is no exception, as it is designed as a gateway microphone into the world of podcasting and streaming. Over the past few years, podcasting has really taken off, along with streaming platforms for content creators – therefore, the Wavo POD brings top-quality audio, clear voice sound, and real-time adjustability in a compact and affordable device perfect for those just getting started in the worlds of podcasting or streaming!

Upon opening the microphone, I was immediately impressed by its quality. The Wavo POD comes in black with a red Pop Filter microphone attachment. It was quick to set up as you essentially plug the Wavo POD into the USB slot of your computer or laptop and you’re ready to record audio. The plug-in-and-play aspect is great, especially as I do not have in-depth knowledge of the best way to set up audio devices. My computer quickly recognised the microphone, and I was set ready to test out the audio.

I am no podcaster or streamer, but I tested out the microphone for work calls and was thoroughly impressed. My colleagues even noted that my sound quality was exceptional – especially compared to the tiny mic from my headphones which I had previously been using! The sound quality was top-notch using the large diaphragm microphone, and I think would make a great choice for a podcaster or streamer. It provides high-quality sound and a range of real-time adjusting settings that ensures that the sound quality can be monitored throughout recordings through the multi-use knob and headphone port. Therefore, I can imagine this being perfect for streamers to actively adjust their sound volume and quality mid-stream where there can be no edits to cut out microphone adjusting time.

However, for Podcasts, this would also be perfect – especially using the Wavo POD’s directional and omnidirectional microphone features. The ability to change the direction of the microphone to focus on your voice when recording a podcast alone and use the omnidirectional mic when recording with a guest would also be super useful. The Wavo POD also includes a Pop Filter accessory to ensure that your voice is clear throughout recordings which is perfect across streaming, calls and podcast settings. Furthermore, the Wavo POD has a uniquely designed mounting system to make it great for desktop use, but it is fully customizable and compatible with a range of boom arms and mounts to create your perfect set-up – also, all JOBY products are designed to be compatible together.

Overall, if you are looking to step your foot into the world of podcasting and streaming, this is the perfect entry-level microphone for you. The Wavo POD is affordable, well designed and provides a great adjustable set-up that allows your creativity and content creation to take centre stage. However, if you work flexibly between home and work a few days a week and need to participate in work calls, the microphone would be great to provide a sturdy and reliable microphone that will bring a professional touch to your meetings.
