So much of our lives today revolve around our phones, whether it be for social media, online shopping, keeping up with family and friends or online banking – so when we’re without our phones we can’t help but feel a bit lost. Therefore, surely, we should be investing more in our phone cases whether to help avoid the dreaded screen shattering, or even to help keep your phone from the prying hands of thieves out and about.

This is where MAGEASY come in, as they have introduced the ODYSSEY M+ STRAP case which not only provides top-notch protection from bumps and falls but also includes a lanyard and attachment eyelets to give you peace of mind knowing your phone is always attached to you – even whilst handsfree.

We got to test out the ODYSSEY M+ STRAP Rugged Utility Protective Case with Lanyard for an iPhone 15 Pro. Straight out of the box, I was so impressed with the extra layer of protection that I didn’t even realise my old case was lacking. I popped the case on my phone, which has a clear polycarbonate backplate with the usual MagSafe ring on the back which you find on most iPhone cases nowadays. The frame is made with a honeycomb shock-absorbing TPU design, which boasts an aviation-quality alloy that is engraved with a leather-like texture.

However, what we all care about is what kind of protection this provides our phones – well, the ODYSSEY M+ STRAP case has a military MK-STD-810H certification which means it can withstand up to a 16ft drop. This is paired with the AIR-SHIELD corners which enhance the drop protection thanks to the 2mm reinforced edges. Then at the base of your phone, you have the option to use the included reinforced corners, or the lanyard eyelet corners. Personally, the eyelets are a big plus to the case as you can easily install them from the inside, and then all you need to do is attach the lanyard and you can have a secure strap attached to the bottom of your phone case.   

The lanyard feels sturdy and means that you can keep your phone with you even when you need your hands free. This is perfect for travelling to allow you to make the most of your environment without having a hand constantly holding or checking where your phone is. However, I think the safety aspects of the lanyard would be my main use of the case – as when you are commuting, travelling, or even on a night out the chances of accidentally misplacing your phone - or even worse, having it stolen - are immediately remedied. The lanyard means you can have your phone around your neck, always visible to you and protected from any sudden drops. The dual protection of your phone from drops or theft makes this a perfect choice of phone case for me. I’ll soon be heading off on a little weekend trip and this case will definitely be coming with me!
