The VQ Rosie-Lee is a DAB digital radio and Bluetooth speaker that gives modern technology a retro feel. Let’s start out by stating the obvious; this radio is beautiful. It had a throw-back design, available in black leather with a walnut face, cream leather with an oak face, or a range of grey and silvery combinations, these simple but effective designs make the Rosie-Lee suitable for a wide range of tastes. There’s nothing fake about this radio - it is made out of real wood and leather, which looks and feel fantastic, and the entire radio is put together by hand, making sure that care and attention to detail is there.

Measuring in at 26 cm W x 8 cm H x 16 cm D, the unit does take up rather a lot of space on your table or shelf, but it sits low, so it still feels neat and out-of-the-way, and it couldn’t be smaller and still keep that iconic look, or its quality of sound. The radio has twin ultra-wide speakers that provide 10W of full stereo sound, and the unit’s body has been designed in such a way to throw this sound effectively around a room. It definitely pulls this off. Full stereo sound isn’t a common find in a bedside radio, but VQ Rosie-Lee weren’t messing around.

It isn’t just a good radio, either – it comes with plenty of bells and whistles. Bluetooth connectivity keeps it relevant – who has time to plug their phone in to a speaker anymore? In case you do need to, though, for example to charge it, there’s a USB connection at the back. On top of that, it has two separate alarms that can be set, and is able to remember up to 60 preset stations, for anyone who still listens to the radio enough to need that many.

This radio would look cute and at home in any room. It could be a main speaker for your living room or a little companion to put on your bedside table. Either way, this thing sounds good, and it looks gorgeous. It isn’t a blow-your-head-off sound system, but if you want something small, aesthetic and nicely made, this has the sound quality to match.
