Ensuring you have the right bedding can be just as vital for a good night’s sleep as avoiding that evening coffee or cheese board, and no I am not talking about dressing your bed in your favourite Marvel character duvet cover. An overlooked item in the bed is the pillow, however these squidgy cushions can make all the difference between a night spent tossing and turning and getting a decent eight hours kip, but with so many different varieties available it’s hard to know where to start. The Simba Hybrid Pillow brings together a combination of features including a system that allows you to adjust the height and firmness, essentially making it a pillow suitable for everyone. All this tech comes at a price so let’s get that out of the way right now: at £95 it’s a rather hefty investment however if this means you can get a decent night sleep every night that year that works out at just under 27p per night. This pillow features space-inspired temperature control, this is a phase-change technology (developed for space suits) that has been applied to soft cotton, which absorbs, stores and releases heat when you need it, there is also a mesh border that allowsmaximum airflow through the pillow.

There are five layers at work here to help keep you comfortable: the Stratos active temperature top layer, hypoallergenic mineral enriched fibre, the foam Nano cubes (more on these later), hypoallergenic microfibre fill and finally, soft breathable BCI cotton. The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) promotes more sustainable production, uses vegan-friendly fill and products are made with recycled materials certified by the Global Recycling Standard. To adjust the height and firmness, you can unzip the inner lining and remove as many of the Nanocubes as you like, Simba even provides you with a little bag to store your Nanocubes in case you want to add more at a later date. After a few weeks with the Hybrid Pillow it has fully replaced my old pillow, after a couple of nights use, I took out some of the Nanocubes to get the perfect height for me. The cover can be removed, and machine washed, you can put your own cover over the top, but you might need a large pillowcase so as not to constrict the Nanocubes or reduce the airflow effectiveness. The Hybrid is a great bed companion, as soft or as firm as you like, best of all you are always on the cool side of the pillow, a great investment for a pillow that does it all. RRP £95
