The Evoke H6 Prestige Edition from Pure is a DAB/DAB+ and FM radio with Bluetooth and colour display. Available in either Black or White, it has an attractive appearance with a glossy seven-layer lacquered finish with modern lines, suitable for a variety of living spaces. The Bluetooth connectivity allows you to stream music directly from your device, be it your favourite album or the audio for the film you are watching.
There is a large 2.8inch colour TFT display that gives you a bright and clear screen to view radio programme information and artwork in full colour (a number of digital radio stations are broadcasting artwork with their programme information), it also makes accessing and perusing the large number of digital radio stations a straightforward and pleasant experience. The DAB digital radio gives you a huge range of content to choose from which is only available on digital radio, a quick search will find all the digital stations available in your area as well as the choice of FM radio for the digi-phobes.
The Evoke can be plugged into the mains or powered off the optional rechargeable ChargePAK F1 which provides roughly 30hours per charge, the buttons and menu aren’t the most intuitive and you can often find yourself in the wrong area before getting the hang of things. There is a Clock and Alarm feature with a built in snooze mode that can be activated at the touch of the handle, the size of this radio however doesn’t make it idea for small bedside tables, there is also a Kitchen Timer which will sound an alarm at the end of a countdown and a Sleep Timer which will put the radio into standby after a set period of time.
The overall sound quality is ok, it’s not going to blow you away and the default bass is a little overpowering, the EQ settings can be tweaked to improve this, the high tones are sharp at times however the mid tones is where it performs best. This Evoke H6 looks great, but the build quality could be better, we found the right knob was sticking at 1 o’clock every time it was fully turned, it will remember the last station you used and makes it easy to flick though stations. The sound quality isn’t going to create a concert in your home but it is more than good enough to entertain you whilst you prep the dinner in the kitchen or potter about in the garage. RRP £189.99
