The BE Free5 Nu Force from Optoma are true wireless Bluetooth in-ear headphones, ideal for escaping the cables that tether you to your device and helping you to become completely immersed in the audio experience, with unrestricted movement.
The earbuds have an attractive, compact design that look discrete and stylish in the ears. There are optional wing tips that can be used to lock the earbuds in place whilst performing vigorous exercises, including handstands, burpees and sprinting (I was too tired to try anything else after these). The SpinFit ear tips are also included - these newly patented ear tips are made from high-quality silicone and are designed to rotate 360 degrees at the centre to allow the earbuds to sit comfortably in your ear, which they do successfully.
The BE Free5 has an IPX5 rating, which means they are both sweat and water resistant, so a little bit of rain cannot be used as an excuse to skip a run, and you can push it hard in the gym without the fear of damaging the earbuds. The portable carry case doubles up as a charger and will give you a total of 16-hour battery life: 15 minutes of charge will give you one hour of listening time, so you will never have to wait too long to enjoy your tunes.
The BE Free5 connects via Bluetooth and provides up to ten metres of range. The built in cVc noise-cancelling microphone allows you to take calls handsfree, the audio coding and AAC produce a stable wireless connection with no lag, and the lightweight graphene coated drivers offer a detailed sound with low distortion. The bass could do with a little more punch, but overall, the sound quality provides a pleasant experience. There a buttons built onto both earbuds to let you take calls, play, pause and skip song as well as activate voice assistant: this does mean you have to press the earbud into your ear slightly, but they are highly responsive, so it doesn’t put too much pressure on the ear or cause discomfort.
The BE Free5 are a great all-rounder, with enjoyable sound quality, comfortable all-day wear, a good battery life and intuitive buttons – altogether, a decent choice for truly wireless audio. RRP £99
