The W10 earphones from Westone are in-ear earphones featuring Bluetooth and True-Fit technology, they have specially tuned, full range, single balanced armature drivers, these drivers aim to enhance sonic detail and frequency range. The True-Fit Technology is a result of Westone’s 60 years of experience designing products for the ear, the result being a universal-fit earpiece that is compact, low-profile, lightweight, and a comfortable fit.
The proprietary eartips have been created to enhance the performance of the W10 by offering a secure fit and tight seal, right out of the box, it comes with five pairs of patented STAR Silicone Tips and five pairs of True-Fit Foam Tips, there are also exchangeable faceplates and a small carrying case included. The full-resolution Bluetooth Cable uses aptX technology and has the standard 10-metre/ 32-foot range, it provides up to eight hours of play time per charge and comes with a water- and dust-resistant IPX-4 rating.
The MMCX Audio connectors allow the Bluetooth Cable to be used with any custom-fit or universal-fit earpiece, there is a three-button MFI control system with built-in microphone for answering calls hands free, a microphone controller that is compatible with iPhones, iPods and iPads and features volume control, track skipping, answer phone calls and Siri activation. The sound quality is reasonable but probably won’t impress the audiophiles, the bass is a little flat and the top notes can come across a quite harsh especially at louder volumes, it worked better with podcasts and tv audio than it did with music. The detachable cables, light weight and comfort make them versatile earphones, but that lack of bass and sharp top notes means electro and dance fans should probably look elsewhere. RRP $249.99
