Designed for those with a slightly awful sense of humour, Joking Hazard asks you to create funny comic strips where the best one wins the round. The game has a similar vibe to Cards Against Humanity, but instead of just phrases, Joking Hazard uses cartoons to make a quick, witty, and often a little cruel comic strip!

The game is super simple to play and garners plenty of laughs throughout. To get started, you need at least 3 players, and each is given 7 cards. A card is then flipped from the remaining deck as a starter card, and a judge is chosen. If the initial card flipped over has a black border, the judge adds one of their cards to make the first two panels of a comic strip. The remaining players then pick a card from their hands that will complete the 3-panel comic strip and hopefully make the judge laugh the most. The judge then flips over the finishing cards for the comic strip from each player and picks their favourite one. If the initial card flipped has a red border, you are playing a bonus round where each of the players instead places 2 cards, where the final red card is now the final card in the comic strip. In this round, the judge chooses the best overall comic strip. In either of the rounds, the best card or cards are returned to the winning player after the judge's decision, to keep track of their points – each kept card is another point. The goal is to get the most points which can be after a set number of rounds, or for whoever reaches a set target of points first.

I loved the silly and often wild depictions on each card, which made every comic strip super funny. It was often actually quite hard to pick my favourites when I was the judge, as each one was so ridiculous. I loved how simple each card's design was, and in many ways, the simple comic design made each one just that little bit funnier.

There’s nothing better than a funny card game to play with friends at Christmas, and Joking Hazard is no exception. It’s a game for adults with some cruel and often rude humour involved, so it may not be ideal for the entire family. However, for an evening game to play with the adults, it’s a great choice and will be coming with me to every party over the festive season.
