Playmobil SKY TRAILS Starter Kit

£69.99

With the festive season fast approaching, knowing what to get your loved ones can be a challenge, especially when it comes to toys. You want to get the kids in your life something fun, but something that still has an educational aspect, without them thinking it's boring! This is where SKY TRAILS from Playmobil come in with their new play system range that is focused on engineering, construction and creativity to allow kids to build tracks and test out routes with the thrilling new range.

We got to test out the SKY TRAILS starter kit, which comes with everything you need to get started, from tubes, ramps, sliders, helix, wave tracks and a confetti funnel. All of these pieces are designed to fit together to allow your kid to build flexible constructions that they can then send the included Playmobil characters flying down. One of the big benefits is that the set requires kids to test, problem solve and then rebuild their constructions to get the best speed they can. This allows them to develop their imagination and STEM skills in a fun and creative way.

I like that the set is designed to foster creativity as your child works out how to build the trails across the room, incorporating various bits of furniture into the design. The set even comes with a table clamp, which allows part of the construction to use a table for both stability and height. This makes the ideal vantage point to start tracks and help achieve the perfect speed for each figure to go flying down. Each piece is completely modular and adjustable, and so with the starter kit, your child can really start to plan and design their construction for themselves, whilst still keeping the whole activity fun and thrilling.

This would make the perfect gift for kids above the age of 7 who are into building things, to provide them with a fun and creative activity that brings together all the concepts of STEM in a fun and accessible way. Plus, all the SKY TRAILS sets work together, so they can be purchased alongside the extension packs to add new and fun obstacles and routes for even more construction fun.

Pros:

  • STEM-focused activity that is still fun and thrilling
  • 231 pieces in the set for lots of building variety
  • Designed to work with all the other SKY TRAILS sets for continued compatible construction

Cons:

  • The set does include lots of small pieces, especially the ‘confetti’, which could easily get lost
