OutDry Extreme is a first-of-its-kind material that uses a waterproof and breathable fabric technology constructed with a waterproof layer on the outside and soft, wicking fabric on the inside. It is this combination that makes the Titanium Jacket such an excellent waterproof.
Traditional rain coats use a combination of an interior waterproof lining that doesn’t let the skin breath and creates that horrible sweat-box feeling, and a water-repellent coating that can degrade over time. The OutDry Extreme technology uses water-tight membranes with millions of microscopic perforations that let water vapour, body heat and sweat escape through a wicking membrane fused directly to the shell, creating one layer.
At first look, the Titanium Outdry looks very basic, but there are a lot of clever features working together to help keep you dry: fully taped seams, a draw-cord adjustable hem with silicone grippers, articulated elbows for ease of movement and abrasion resistant overlays to keep things comfortable. If things get too warm, there are also zips under either arm to allow for some ventilation.
The jacket has two pockets that allow plenty of room for all your belonging, made from a mesh to keep the jacket’s weight down to a minimum. With adjustable contoured sleeves and waterproof zips, believe me when I say no rain will be getting in this jacket. The zip pulls have little extensions on them, making it easier to grab them when you have thick gloves on. Another cool thing about the Titanium Outdry is that it has a long body (30”), which is longer at the back to avoid any risk of the rain sneaking down your trousers.
The Columbia Titanium is a simple looking jacket that is secretly packed with technical details to help protect you against the elements. This jacket is also lightweight and, with its soft wicking interior, is comfortable to wear even in the worst of weathers. RRP £120
