The Vaude Shuttle Comfort child carrier is available in red, black and marine, and is suitable for day trips and even hiking. It can be individually adjusted and has practical pockets to make your journey as comfortable and stress-free as possible. The shuttle is constructed from 100% Polyamide, coated in 200 D Mini Ripstop Polyurethane, and the main fabric is 100% Polyester. It can be used with a child from 105cm or 18kg up to 22kg. The Tergolight suspension system and the load distributing hip-belt create a snug but even fit without creating pressure points, and provide a steady and secure ride for both adult and child. There are adjustable foot loops to help the child feel sturdier and to prevent pins and needles, as well as front and back handles ensure TÜV certified safety.
As for pockets, there is easy-access storage for snacks, toys or water. The Shuttle features a zip pocket on the hip belt and two good sized storage compartments on the top and bottom, which all add up to 25L. I would have liked to see a few mesh pockets on either side, just for some easy-to-see storage options, although all the key attachment straps and handles are a bright orange for quick reference. Sadly the sun/rain canopy, large rain cover and washable head rest are all sold separately, which is disappointing at £240 – it feels as though they then want to squeeze even more money out of you for what are pretty much necessities when it comes to hiking.
The Shuttle Comfort is, as the name promises, very comfortable. It is soft and spongy in all the right places, but it is weighty at 3100g. It will swallow up a fair bit of cash as well as car boot space, and it also gets quite warm with all that padding. The bottom line is if you have enough cash to get the accessories on top of the initial purchase price, and will use the child carrier regularly for long outside adventures, it could prove a worthwhile investment.
