The new WeeRide SafeFront Deluxe claims to be WeeRide’s best child seat.
Although it is called a front mounted seat, this just means it is fixed in front of the rider, not in fact on the handlebars. It is technically centre mounted, a safe area for the seat to reside. This centre mounted seat puts all the weight on the most stable part of the bike and keeps the child’s weight centralised whilst being protected either side with the cyclist’s arms. One of the best things about this positioning is you can always keep an eye on your child, you can have clearer conversations and enjoy watching them take in the world around them.
The Deluxe seat has plusher cushioning on the seat and headrest than its original counterpart, best suited for children under 18 months who may require a little extra padding. It also features higher sides + a strap underneath the bar for increased child stability, a two-movement thumbscrew and buckle release for safety, as well as additional straps on the foot-cup holders. The Deluxe is recommended for ages 1-4 years, but it can be used as soon as neck muscles are strong enough, 6-9 months for example. The child will get a better view of things from sitting up front, rather than just the vision of your back/builder’s bum. There is a headrest for baby to sleep, legs are kept safely out of the way with the footrests, it also has a five-point safety strap and extra bars are available for multi bike use.
The Deluxe isn’t too difficult to install but does take a bit of time for the first installation. However, once it is fitted, it is a straight-forward job removing it for solo rides. It fits all bikes including oversized head tubes and full suspension of 16” + (except drop handle bars), as well as Ladies’ and Men’s bikes, however it isn’t the lightest of things at 4kg. The WeeRide SafeFront Deluxe is super safe and stable, it gives the little passenger a great view and lets you interact with them on the move. It will take a little getting used to, but it doesn’t interfere too much with your natural riding position. RRP £119.99
