Arccos Smart Laser Rangefinder

Playing golf is a great summer activity to do with friends, but as someone who's a bit of a novice, I spend half the time asking my more experienced golfing friends what club I need and what is the best way to play each hole. Aside from knowing the function of a putter and a driver, the difference between clubs and which is needed for different conditions and distances is often lost on me. However, I was super excited to see the Smart Laser Rangefinder from Arccos, which uses traditional laser-based pin targeting alongside AI Strategy, to help you make more informed decisions on each shot.

The Smart Laser Rangefinder from Arccos operates in a relatively simple way; you just point the device at the hole flag, and then that precise location is locked in. From here, the unit alongside the Arccos app will provide valuable insight into the actual distance (straight line measurement) and the plays like distance, factoring in the slopes of the course as well as environmental factors such as wind and temperature. The Smart Laser Rangefinder then offers insight on how the shot would play in peak wind conditions, and offers advice on which club might be best for each shot. Unlike most rangefinders, which only capture around 19% of the yardage adjustment, the smart laser captures the rest with a 999-yard range with +/-1 yard accuracy, and a 6.1x optimal zoom.

The Smart Laser Rangefinder helps you play the most informed round of golf possible, from just how far away the hole is to the weather conditions that could affect how the ball travels.  However, my favourite feature is the built-in AI strategy for every shot, which provides you with recommended clubs and optional targets based on your tendencies, as well as the course layout, hazards and weather conditions. It achieves this by analysing over 1.5 billion shots and analysing its Digital Yard Book, which utilises Arccos’ course database, featuring mapped GPS data for 40,000+ courses worldwide through the Arccos app. The Smart Laser Rangefinder factors in all these external factors, to then offer the smartest way for you to personally tackle each shot. This innovative addition makes the Smart Laser Rangefinder so much more than a distance measurement, but instead it’s a nifty bit of tech specifically designed to enhance your performance.

The Smart Laser Rangefinder pairs with the Arccos app to sync distances and enable advanced features, offering a handy tool that will help change the way you play every hole. I love how easy it is to use, and that you only need an active Arccos Rangefinder subscription to use it. Instead, it’s a standalone golf laser rangefinder well suited to help you see distance and the best shots possible. However, using the Smart Laser Rangefinder alongside things like the Arccos’ Smart Sensors would provide a super in-depth view of your performance, allowing you to track shot data and performance with the sensors.

Overall, if you love a round of golf and are looking to not only get more insight into the distances and clubs required for each shot but also the environmental factors that could cause your ball to go astray, then the Arccos Smart Laser Rangefinder is a great option. As a premium device, with additional value unlocked through the Arccos subscription, it’s a super handy gadget to have in your golf bag, to enhance your performance and get handy feedback to help you tackle every hole with as much information as possible.

Pros:

  • High accuracy yard measurement – both for straight line and plays like
  • Factors in slopes and environmental factors for personalised course conditions
  • AI insights to help you play each hole in the most effective way possible
  • Comes with a handy carry case, but is also magnetic to easily attach to a golf cart or bag

Cons:

  • High price point, but a worthy investment for the high level of detailed feedback you get on each hole and its conditions
