Designed for gamers, students, and commuting workers, the HE 65 Mag keyboard by Epomaker is a compact and portable keyboard option that is great for quickly plugging in and getting to work.
When I first opened the box, I was super surprised by just how small and lightweight the keyboard was. The keyboard, with a 65% ANSI US Layout, is designed to save space whilst still delivering top functionality. The reduced size means that only the essential keys are on the keyboard, with the traditional right-hand number pad and top function keys removed, leaving just 66 keys. I personally don’t find the number panel or function keys super essential for everyday typing or gaming sessions, so the removal of these personally doesn’t hinder my use when it comes to my keyboard needs. Plus, the compact size makes the keyboard the perfect size for taking with you on the go, as you can throw it in your laptop case, and it will be ready to go whether working from home or from the office.
In terms of aesthetics, the keyboard is super sleek and cool-looking with a black frame and black and grey keys, with blue accent keys on the space, ESC and enter keys. This sleek and minimalist look means it will fit into most setups to provide great functionality whilst remaining minimalist. However, one of my favourite things about Epomaker keyboards is that many come with south-facing LEDs under each key, and the HE65 Mag is no exception. Each key has glowing lights underneath it, which give a fun and pretty look to the keyboard – perfect for any gaming or workstation. All of the keys are Hall-effect switches, which make them perfect for gaming thanks to their 40-level actuation, providing unmatched precision, speed, and personalisation when gaming.
In terms of connectivity, the HE65 Mag benefits from the tri-mode connectivity that I’ve come to love about Epomaker’s keyboards. The keyboard can be connected via Bluetooth, the included USB-C cable, or the attached 2.4Ghz toggle. This flexibility in connectivity makes it an ideal setup for working on the go and would be great for students to take to lectures to connect to their phone or tablet to take notes. Plus, with an 8000mAh battery inside (made up of two rechargeable 400mAh batteries), the HE 65 Mag benefits from up to 600 hours of battery use on a single charge, meaning it's great for using on the go when you may not have access to a plug socket.
One of the benefits of Epomaker keyboards is that the keys are hot-swappable, so you can even further customize the keyboard to your specific needs. Then, with the top screen and turning knob on the right top corner, you can make the keyboard completely yours to show the date and time and even control your volume controls using the knob right on your keyboard. I love how functional the keyboard is, even while being on the smaller side. This makes it the perfect all-around keyboard for working or gaming on the go.
If you’re on the hunt for a compact, lightweight yet functional keyboard that you can make completely yours, then the HE65 Mag keyboard from Epomaker is a great pick. I love how easy it is to use on the go, as the long battery life and easy connectivity mean I can just connect and get to work without any fuss.
