Designed with compact premium cameras in mind, the microphone clips seamlessly onto the top of your camera ready to deliver great audio without any fuss.

When I first attached the Wavo™ PLUS to my camera I was impressed by its lightweight design which didn’t make my set-up feel too top-heavy. It was super easy to attach, and with a few wires and switches, the microphone was ready to test out. I loved that all the necessary wires were included in the box, including a TRS to TRS, TRRS to TRS, USB-C to USB-A and a USB-C to USB-C cable, so you have everything you need to get started.

Once attached the microphone shows a green light to indicate that it is fully charged – I loved that as the battery went down the light would change from green, to amber and then red so you had a good idea of how many hours of battery you had left with it. After testing the microphone out over the past few weeks, it has only just reached red indicating that it holds a substantial amount of charge so you can be safe knowing it's not going to run out fast whilst you’re out shooting on the go. Plus to better save the battery, the microphone is designed to turn on and off with your camera, so you know that when your camera isn’t in use your microphone isn’t needlessly losing battery.

The Wavo™ PLUS is a directional microphone that helps to cut down on background noise and is built with a 100Hz High-pass Filter which helps to avoid low-frequency rumbles from overtaking the audio. This ensures that the sound quality of your audio is always clean and clear. Also, by cutting down on background noise, there is less editing required for your videos, so you can capture, edit, and upload your content online so much quicker.  However, for even greater control over your audio, you can attach headphones to the Wavo™ PLUS to monitor the audio quality whilst filming and adjust using the red back dial where necessary. This means that vloggers and filmmakers can feel more confident capturing content knowing they will not lose any clips due to poor sound quality.

The threat of losing video clips from poor sound content is something that JOBY has focused on further with the Wavo™ PLUS in the Safe Track feature which registers at -10db to ensure that sound captured even at its lowest will not be lost and works alongside the Safe Audio setting which provides a second audio track if necessary for greater backup.

Having tested out the Wavo™ PLUS for a few weeks I was super impressed with the audio quality. Whilst I’m no vlogger, I found capturing videos with friends and family super easy and every clip had great sound quality. The only time when the sound had a little struggle was outside with a bit of wind, as it caused a bit of interference – but this is common with most microphones I’ve tested. Thankfully, we also got to try out the JOBY Wavo™ Windjammer PLUS (£21.95) which provided great protection for the microphone from dust and moisture outside, whilst cutting down on wind noise almost completely. I’d definitely recommend this when buying the Wavo™ PLUS, as it made shooting outside so much easier and ensured a crisp and clear sound quality no matter where I was filming.

If you’re looking to better the audio quality of your videos, you can’t go wrong with a microphone from JOBY who are committed to making camera accessories that make the filming process a breeze. Therefore, the Wavo™ PLUS provides great sound quality and will deliver excellent results for those who want to step up their audio game.
