Kikkerland Zecar Flywheel Car

$20.00

The Kikkerland Zecar Flywheel Car is small but mighty. Powered purely by mechanics, the Zecar just takes a small push, and it will easily overcome small obstacles in its path on its way across your table.

The Zecar does not contain springs or batteries – instead, it is powered by a mechanical motor using gears and cogs to power the Zecar over books and small objects. Therefore, as it is fully mechanical it offers a lifetime of fun compared to other small toy cars which require batteries which constantly need to be replaced. I was impressed by the compact yet impressive quality of the Zecar, as I pushed it across my desk it carefully climbed over my notebook and pen with ease. The Zecar is not built for racing so does move relatively slowly, but this is what allows the car to carefully overcome obstacles in its path. Therefore, whilst it is sturdy it is not built to be dropped off surfaces as this could damage the intricate mechanical system.

The Zecar, however, represents so much more than just an enjoyable toy as it was styled by Gaga Casari with the mission that all the proceeds from the royalties will go toward reforestation projects in Rio de Janeiro State in Brazil. The funds will go towards The Mil Folhas Project which is planting thousands of trees a year to help restore part of the Atlantic Tropical Rainforest. The project began its operations in 1996, to reforest 50 acres of land in Rio de Janeiro State. So far Zecar has helped to plant more than 100,000 trees through the royalties funding and is continuing to work with the project over the coming years until the goal of 300,000 trees are planted. Kikkerland has also committed to matching the funding produced by Zecar, to give even more financial aid to the project to reforest Brazil’s landscapes.

Overall, the Zecar is a nifty toy which makes a great gift for anyone interested in mechanics or a little fun. I can see children enjoying building obstacle courses for the Zecar to climb over, or even adults having it sat on their desk for the occasional push across the desk.

- Fully mechanic flywheel car

- Sturdily built
