As someone who spends most of their day at a keyboard typing for work or streaming TV shows in the evening, having a keyboard and mouse set up that is functional and gets the job done is essential – there’s nothing worse than a laggy mouse wheel or keys that don’t respond. However, many keyboards on the market that work well are often either boring to look at and don’t fit my desk aesthetic, or they’re wildly expensive and I can’t justify the price. Therefore, I was super excited when I got the chance to review one of Logitech’s Pop Icon Combo keyboard and mouse sets, which provide you with a complete working set-up that also comes in some super cute colourways! Plus, what makes a better gift this Valentine’s Day than a super cute, yet functional keyboard and mouse set-up!

The keyboard and mouse we got to test out was the rose and off-white colourway, which features a lovely baby pink colour across the mouse and keyboard, with darker pink and white accents across the keys too. The overall look is super adorable, and as someone with a pink desktop, it fits right in! Looking first at the keyboard, I was majorly impressed with just how thin and quiet it was. I’ve been using a mechanical keyboard recently, which whilst satisfying to click, is a little noisy. So, when I started typing on the Pop Icon Keyboard, I was super impressed with just how silent each keystroke was. The wireless keyboard features a more compact size compared to traditional keyboards, with the full number panel removed, but this means that the keyboard would be ideal for taking with you on the go. I personally think it would be ideal for carrying in a laptop bag due to its lightweight and compact nature so you can work from just about anywhere with ease.   

One of the major perks of the keyboard is that you can customize it to your needs, with dedicated action keys for things such as ‘work mode’ or ‘break mode’. I loved that I could program the keyboard to automatically launch my emails and workflow ready to get started for the day with just the hit of an action key. Then, when my lunch break came, I could hit my programmed action key for ‘break mode’ which launched YouTube and Netflix for me. I loved the personalised nature of this and the focus on having separate work and break time – ideal for helping to reduce burnout and remaining productive during the rest of the day! To program this in, you just need to download the Logi Options+ App on your desktop or device, which is where you can easily set action keys to your preferences to make the keyboard personalised to your needs.

The mouse comes in a lovely two-tone pink, which looks the part alongside the matching pink keyboard. The Pop Icon Mouse is compact and is designed to fit snugly in the palm of your hand. I was most impressed with just how quiet it is because the scroll wheel and mouse click are almost silent thanks to Logitech’s SilentTouch technology. This ensures that every click is whisper quiet, and as someone who works in a quiet office or co-working space often, a mouse that does not cause a distraction with its obnoxious clicking is always a big win for me! Plus, the mouse features a SmartWheel which makes it even quicker to flick down pages so you can fly through documents or websites, without it lagging behind and taking forever to scroll to the bottom of the page.

Pairing the two devices with your laptop or device is pretty simple thanks to the Bluetooth connection each one has to your device. I found they were picked up easily and quickly were ready to work. The POP Icon Combo is compatible with a variety of devices using Bluetooth low energy connectivity, meaning it functions with many older devices. Some of these devices include Windows PCs with Windows 10 or later, Macs with MacOS12 or later, as well as devices running Linux, ChromeOS, iPadOS 15 or later, iOS 13.4 or later, and Android 12 or later.

However, as both the keyboard and mouse require Bluetooth to connect to your device over a wired connection, they may not be compatible with all older model desktops that do not support any Bluetooth connection. For this reason, I would have liked to see a wired connection or dongle available that could be used in situations where Bluetooth compatibility may not be present. I will also note that both the mouse and keyboard come with pre-installed batteries, which aim to deliver 3 years of battery life with the keyboard and 2 years of battery with the mouse. Whilst this provides a great long life span per battery, the batteries will need to be replaced every couple of years as the units themselves are not rechargeable which is an ongoing cost.

Overall, the Logitech Pop Icon Combo Keyboard and Mouse make a great bundle for such an affordable price. With two wireless devices inside which are designed to make your day easy and productive, they’re an easy pick for giving your desk set up a good refresh. However, I’d personally say these are also the perfect set-up for working on the go, with each unit being lightweight whilst remaining super functional. My only slight gripe would be that there is no wired option with either, which could cause some complications if your device doesn’t support the Bluetooth connection or struggles to pick them up. Therefore, I’d recommend checking if your laptop, computer or device supports the connection before purchasing. However, with such lovely colourways, including purple and off-white, orange and off-white, and black and green, alongside the rose and off-white colourway, you are sure to find a set-up that works with your particular working aesthetic without sacrificing price or functionality.
