A flashlight is something I personally don’t think about until there’s a power outage and I’m desperately scrambling to find one in the dark. I know for most of us, we’ll use our smartphone’s torch, but with our phone batteries dwindling and no power to charge them, it's never long before you're left in the dark, trying to remember where you last saw a candle! Therefore, a reliable, well-powered torch is a household staple for emergencies and everyday activities, ensuring you can always see in dark and dimly lit areas. We got to test out the SK-05 II torch, which is a sturdy, durable and compact torch that boasts an incredible level of power. Straight out of the box, I was immediately impressed with just how small the SK-05 II is. The small torch fits easily in the palm of your hand, and thanks to its durable metal casing design, it has a lovely weight to it. I was a big fan of the rectangular shape, replacing the traditional round torches you might be used to, which helps to keep it pocket-sized but will also ensure it doesn’t roll away when put down. Plus, it even has a magnetic base, so it's perfect for attaching to metal surfaces (for example, your car), so you can stay hands-free when doing things such as repairs.  

However, the true power of the SK-05 II is shown in its illumination abilities. The torch is an advanced, high-performance unit, which can reach up to 5000lm dual light turbo. The torch features two modes, including a spotlight and a floodlight, with the spotlight offering an impressive throw of over 410 meters. Then, in the floodlight setting, you can achieve a bright burst of power to illuminate either a wide area or a small area for close-up illumination. Together, the two modes ensure that whether you’re walking in the dark, camping, fixing something, or even just needing a light during a power cut, you have the perfect tool for high visibility. To switch between these modes, the SK0-05 II features a useful little rotary knob that allows you to quickly and easily click between the modes. Then, once you have found your chosen mode, you just press and hold the button to cycle through a low, medium and high mode in this setting.

One of the great additional features of the SK-05 II is that it also features a side light built into the side of the torch. The side light feature has RGB lights, and so can be used with a standard white light or with a rainbow of colours. I love the addition of the colourful lights, which are ideal for things like camping, to keep your tent illuminated, and help you find your things without needing to put the main torch on.

The SK-05 II is supported by two 4000mAh batteries, which offer 8000mAh of power to the device, to keep it powered up and operational for a very long time. However, should you need to charge your phone, I was also impressed to see that you can actually plug your phone into the torch to use it as a power bank. This is a great addition and ensures that even in an emergency, you can use the torch to keep your phone charged up should you need to call for assistance. 

Overall, the SK-05 II torch from Loop Gear is a super functional, durable and easy-to-use torch that would make a perfect addition to every household. It can be kept with your camping gear to keep you feeling safe and ensure your view is clear when on the go, or for repairs or emergencies when the power is out. Therefore, with a powerful light, a range of uses and a long battery life, it’s a great option if you’re looking for a reliable torch to add to your toolkit.
