Swan X Lynsey Carpet Cleaner

Anyone with children or pets knows that spills, muddy footprints and dirt are an almost daily occurrence, and so many of us spend at least a few minutes a day cleaning up some sort of mess from our carpets before the inevitable stains set in. One of the best ways I’ve found to manage this is by investing in a handheld carpet cleaner tool. However, these are often heavy or aren’t super effective with only a single water tank which gets dirty quickly.

This need for a dual tank, lightweight and effective handheld carpet cleaner was noticed by Swan and so they developed the Handheld Carpet Cleaner. However, it is not just any handheld carpet cleaner, instead, this unit is in collaboration with homecare expert and TV cleaning guru Lynsey Crombie, who has put her seal of approval on the unit for its deep carpet cleaning functionality.

The Swan X Lynsey Carpet Cleaner is designed to get deep into your carpets, mats, rugs and upholstery to deliver a thorough clean, whilst eliminating odours in the process. The hand-held carpet cleaner achieves this with a useful two-tank design with one holding 300ml of clean water, and another with a 200ml capacity for dirty water. This means that as you move the carpet cleaner across your carpet it sucks up the dirt and debris, with the help of the inbuilt cleaning brush, and delivers this contaminated water to the dirty water tank. This is great for ensuring that your carpets are not reintroduced to the same dirt again and again, and so you can get longer cleaning sessions out of each use. However, I would suggest emptying out the dirty water periodically so it doesn’t fill up too fast, and so you can see how effective the cleaning is after a few passes.

I found using the carpet cleaner was super easy. The unit does need to be plugged into the mains; however, it comes with an extra-long 5-metre cord, so you don’t have to worry about it not reaching where you need it. I found the length perfect for covering the whole of each room, and I only needed to unplug and move it when I went to a different room. After filling the clean water tank, I just had to use the top buttons to deliver water and suck the dirt from the floor. I tested it out on a rug we have by the door and it was filthy! The water I emptied out was disgusting, but thankfully after a few uses it had removed pretty much all the dirt and debris stuck in it. I’ll definitely be keeping the Swam Carpet Cleaner on hand for future rug and carpet cleaning, as well as in case of any spills.

If you’re on the hunt for a carpet cleaner which delivers efficient cleaning in a lightweight ergonomically designed unit, then the Swan X Lynsey Handheld Carpet Cleaner is a great choice. It's been tested out and given Lynsey’s seal of approval, and after testing it out myself I can see why.

Pros:

  • Lightweight and ergonomic design for easy function
  • Extralong cable to easily reach across the whole room
  • Innovative dual tank design for deeper cleaning

Cons:

  • It left materials quite wet as the suction wasn’t as strong as I’d hoped – this meant it took a while for the carpet to dry which was a little inconvenient
