The Audition Pro headphones from Avantree are low cost headphones with high cost visuals; this stylish headset comes with beautiful minimalist design, the earpads are lovely and soft and can be adjusted for a personalised and comfortable fit. It was the ear cups however that proved to be a bit of an issue, for some reason, no matter how the headset was adjusted the bottom of both the cups didn’t sit flush to the skin, this was the case for both me, with a small head and slightly sticky out ears (sorry folks, I’m already married) and a colleague with a large head and small ears (yes we are an attractive office). Without a complete seal the music will leak out, but background noise will also interfere with your immersion in your sound, however this could just have been a fault with the unit we received. Despite the gap, the Audition Pro remain comfortable over long periods of wear, they come with a large zip-up protective hard case, this is great for keep them safe whilst travelling about, although it could do with a handle.
This headset also comes with a Micro USB charging cable and 3.5mm audio cable, the battery will give you up to 40 hours when connected via Bluetooth and you can get endless usage when used with the 3.4mm cable. The aptX Low Latency technology reduces the Bluetooth delay for better synchronisation and clarity, the built-in bass boost feature lets you tailor your audio experience for TV, music on your smart phone or PC. The sound quality is rather high frequency dominated but lacks bass, we found it was well suited for tv, indie and pop music but it may struggle with bass-heavy tracks and action movies, for example. The NFC function allows for one-tap connection, the voice prompts clearly identify the status of the headphones and after initial pairing with the headphones they will auto-reconnect to any device instantly. The Audition Pro deliver exactly what you would expect for the price range, the sound quality won’t blow you away but they are reliable, comfortable and look great as well as giving a solid battery life.
