The BoomCube from KitSound (KS) is a compact little Bluetooth speaker that comes in three designs: black, grey and rose gold. Measuring up at 7 x 7 x 7cm, it is super portable and looks cute at the same time.

The BoomCube is straightforward to set up: press the on/off button, which lights up to indicate when its switched on and ready for pairing, then simply find it on your device, pair and you are away! When you turn it on and off, it creates a rather ominous booming noise which we rather liked, but the sound when your pair is kind of annoying, especially as we kept switching uses in the office. Once connected, I picked the first song at the top of my playlist which just so happened to be the best song in the world Benny Benassi 'Satisfaction', you know the one with the super feminist video about all the girls who managed to get construction jobs but forgot to wear their clothes?

I didn’t expect too much from this tiny speaker, but I was actually rather blown away by the powerful sound that came out of it! Thanks to the Passive Radiator that gives the bass a real boost and not just in volume, it is rich and full, the mid tones are clean and even; the only area that could do with improvement is the high tones, which can be a little sharp at times but that’s only if you are being picky. The BoomCube takes two hours to receive a full charge and this will provide you with up to six hours’ worth of playtime. The 45mm driver allows you to push up the volume although, sadly, there are no volume controls on the actual speaker…or controls of any kind other than the on/off switch.

Although there are speakers on two of the sides, the majority/clearest part of the sound comes from the top of the speaker, but it can still fill up a room. The BoomCube is a great choice if you are looking for a portable Bluetooth speaker, with good quality sound (especially bass) and with its low cost, it’s really a no brainer. RRP £19.99
