With so many Bluetooth headphones out there, you must think outside the box to stand out in the market and, Roam have certainly done that when it comes to the Ropes Earphones. What makes these these headphones original is not only their design, but also their power amp and the EQ app. Starting with the a design this is a love -it- or- hate- it productaesthetic, the whole thing connectsis connecting in a big circle that you pop over your head and adjust it to your size., yYou cannot detach it the circle to use the headphonesit in a traditional way, which and this really bugged me. The idea is that you werear them around your neck even when you aren’t using them and look great - I think this is another attempt at headphones pretending to be a fashion item, but they are as much of necklace as a rubber band round wrist is a bracelet.

The Ropes are branded with a little circular detail that you might recognise if you are from the UK as the London underground symbol. Ttwinned with the red, white and blue colours of the USA edition, you will look incredibly patriotic wearing these. The main issue with the design is that the headphonesy just get in the way -, the pendant piece is super light, which you would think is a good thing, but because of that this, it isits  always moving about and I kept getting it caught on things., tThe wire is flimsy and easily gets tangled up,  easily even in its protective bag. The annoying design is made extra especially annoying by the fact that the sound quality is impressive, the power amp balances the armature earphone 10mm drivers to deliver good mid-high range frequencies from 4Khz to 20Khz and the bass is punchy enough for most genres of music.

The companion ROAM EQ app deliver sound allows you to personalise the sound from the headphones with sliders to control the Bbass, wWarmth, bBody, cClarity and bBrilliance, and has pre-programmed set ups for music genres of music for examplesuch as dDance, hHip-hop, bBlues and even YouTube HD and Low Res.

The Ropes come with six6 different ear tip sizes that provide a decent amount of sound isolation and comfort, but the high price tag and awkward design will probably be a deal breaker for many, which is a shame, as you will miss out on some seriously good sound. RRP $149
