Taylor’s Eye Witness has been making knives since 1838 and produce a huge variety of knives, scissors and accessories. The Brooklyn copper knife set is a midrange line that comes with a paring knife, all round knife, carving knife, bread knife, chef’s knife and an acrylic knife block. Each knife has a black blade and handle with a copper plated finger guard and look really attractive when all put together in the knife block. The blades are hollow ground stainless steel with an anti-bacterial, hard ceramic coating and I sharpened one up to see if it had any effect on the black coating which I am pleased to say it did not.

All the knives are very sharp and they stay sharp, I had no idea how blunt my old knives were until I compared them to these, they made light work of chopping and dicing and with the soft grip handle there is no risk of the knife slipping from your hand. I believe you get value for money with these knives but what does concern me however is the knife block itself, although it looks nice because it is made of plastic it is quite light and the knives make it top heavy. It doesn’t take a lot to make it wobble and I would worry about knocking it over as there is nothing to stop the knifes then falling out, I would rather pay extra for a heavier block. To summarise a sharp set of knives that will be living in my draw rather than in their block. RRP £70
