With trips and festivals on the horizon during the Summer months, having a reliable portable charger is a must. For me, a portable charger is essential for a festival, as having your phone to call friends, navigate back to your tent or even store your ticket means your phone needs to stay charged up. However, when using your camera to record your favourite artists or take pictures with friends, your battery life can quickly be drained. For this reason, I always keep a portable charger in my bag to save me, or a friend should we find our phones without charge.

The iWalk Reel Power Bank is designed to be a compact, tangle-free option that helps you keep your phone charged and ready to go whether at a festival, on a plane or out and about. The unit features an innovative LED digital display on the top that shows the remaining power left in the power bank which is super useful and means you will never run out of power unexpectedly. The cable connected to the power bank is 2.3 feet long and is pulled out of the top of the unit. The cable can be pulled out to varying lengths, where it will hold in place. Once pulled out, you just have to give a final pull on the wire, and it will retract back into the unit. This ability to pull out the charging wire to your desired length makes it super handy for charging without a large or unnecessary wire getting in the way. Then, once charged you can retract it and the unit remains compact and fuss-free.

In terms of the cable, it is a two-way fast 30W fast charging wire, with a 1000mAh capacity in the power bank unit. This makes it ideal for charging many of the big-name phone brands such as iPhone and Samsung, as well as tablets and even some smaller laptops on the go. In fact, you can boost your iPhone’s charge to 60% in just 30 minutes – perfect for quickly powering up on the go. With iWalk Reel Power Bank taking just 2 and a half hours to charge to 100%, and only 1.8 hours with a 30W fast charger, it makes the ideal companion to keep you powered up all day.

My only complaint would be that the unit is quite chunky, unlike some of the slimmer or more flat power banks I’ve seen before. Whilst the shape makes sense for storing the wire inside, I do wish the entire power bank was a little slimmer in width, to make it easier to slide into a pocket or my bag with my phone without it taking up too much space.

If you’re looking for a reliable power bank that will be a lifesaver whether at home or out and about, then the iWalk Power Reel is a great choice especially for under £50. I like the innovative design that ensures the wire is included in the unit is compacted inside of it – and means you’ll never forget your wire!
