The Alcatel 3 is a slick and stylish device that is here to compete for a top spot amongst Android devices. The phone uses an Android™ 8.1 Oreo™ operating system, which is upgradable to Android™ 9.0 Pie™. This is combined with a powerful SDM439 Octa-Core and a sleek design to make a device worth consideration when next upgrading the permanent extension to your hand.
Let’s face it – we spend an increasing amount of time on our phones, so you want to have one that looks and feels good. As your window to the internet, the Alcatel 3's 5.9-inch HD+ Super Full View Display gives a striking view of photos and videos. With an 88.4% screen to body ratio, this design has strived to give you as much screen as possible. Arguably, the screen could extend to the edges of the phone and give you that curving effect, but personally I’m not a fan of that, so I think Alcatel made the right call. The image this screen provides is vivid, clear and beautiful, living up to the look of the attractive phone itself.
To keep up with the screen, the Alcatel 3 has a 13 + 5MP dual camera. This comes with an awesome AI scene detection capability, which works out what the camera is looking at and adjusts your settings accordingly, switching between settings for portraits, shows etc. It also supports the current fad for AR emojis, but I imagine those will quickly become as dated as the paperclip that used to pop up alongside Microsoft Word. (Did I just age myself?)
One of the most important factors in choosing a phone is its battery time. The Alcatel 3 has a battery capacity of 3500mAh, aka a talk time of 28 hours at 2G, 21 hours at 3G, and 18 hours at 4G, and a standby time of roughly 900 hours. All of this comes from a charge time of only 4 hours and 20 minutes.
A Snapdragon chipset and a decent RAM and ROM size all mean that using this phone feels fast and zippy, with extra features like face and fingerprint recognition making it just that bit more effortless to use. Before defaulting to the latest Samsung or iPhone, it’s worth giving the Alcatel 3 a try - it’s smooth, looks good and, mostly importantly, won’t die in a hurry!
