These geometric dragon designs are almost too cute and impressive to want to melt – they're a fantastic ornament in themselves, and it seems a shame to lose that artistry. However, fear not, for the Pyropet range only improves once it’s lit. These candles take 20 hours to fully burn down, so you have plenty of time to enjoy the dragon as it collapses, and as it does, it reveals an awesome twist – a metal dragon skeleton inside. How cool is that?? Like the external design, the skeleton is kind of cute, but it’s also kind of, well, metal.

Once your dragon has melted, the final result could be an epic decoration in itself, with the metal skeleton rising up over a cascade of lava-esque wax. Some candles produce a disappointingly weak effect when melted, as we found this year whilst trying to make Halloween decorations at home, but Dreki won’t let you down. We may have just missed Halloween, but really, these candles are going to improve a room on any month of the year.

The Pyropet range has candles in a variety of shapes, such as dogs and owls, but that makes their ‘death’ seem a little sad, to me. A dragon seems to make the most of the concept – you've got fire, you’ve got a cool skeleton – what more could you want?

Dreki comes in either Neo Mint, vibrant red, a pale green or black. It would be fun if there were more colours to choose from, but Pyropet has the two most ‘classic’ dragon colours covered, so we can’t complain. The candle is made from paraffin wax, with the skeleton made of aluminium, which keeps it lightweight, long lasting, and isn’t going to become dangerously hot. The candle measures in at 16.5cm H x 14cm D x 6.5cm W, and would make a cute and surprising gift this Christmas!
