Core Balance Hex Dumbbell Set with Rack (12kg)
£39.99
Whether you’re a gym veteran or a beginner in the world of fitness, having a good set of dumbbells at home means you never have to miss out on a good workout - even when life gets in the way! I’ve long been a fan of Core Balance’s fitness equipment, and the Hex Dumbbell set might be one of my favourites, providing me with a reliable, aesthetically pleasing and durable dumbbell set that means I don’t have to venture out of my flat to still get some movement in.
Having recently moved house, my gym routine has been off as I’ve spent all my time unpacking, and I’m still on the hunt for a new local gym that I like. Therefore, at-home workouts have been my main form of exercise…if you don’t include carrying boxes up stairs! Most of my at-home workouts are usually just using my own body weight or some resistance bands I’ve acquired over the years. However, I’ve been loving incorporating weights into my routine at home to help build and maintain my muscles, even without all the fancy gym equipment. This is where the Core Balance Hex Dumbbell set has been super useful. The set includes two 1kg, 2kg and 3kg weights, providing you with three weight options to choose from depending on your exercise. Whether for lateral raises, bicep curls, or even bent over rows, the weights provide that extra bit of resistance to help keep my arms and body feeling super strong.
The weights included in the 12kg set that we tested were perfect for making each movement a little harder, whilst still making them super safe to do at home. For this reason, I think the set would be super ideal for beginners, and especially those who may be a little scared to step into the weights section of the gym alone. Instead, you can practice your form in the comfort of your own home and build up muscle and technique, ready for when you do step into the gym. However, even if you’re a gym veteran, having a good set of weights at home is super useful, especially for those days when you don’t have time to make it to the gym for a long lifting session. I liked the 12kg set, and found the weights included were helpful, but if you’re used to lifting much heavier ones, Core Balance also have an 18kg set. This set includes two 2kg, 3kg and 5kg weights, helping to make your exercises a bit more difficult with the added weight size. With both sets, you can work your way through the weights, making them a great option for getting a sweat on and maintaining your fitness even on those hectic days.
In terms of the design, Core Balance have thought of everything with each one featuring a solid iron core, which has been balanced to help with form when lifting. The iron core also means that should you drop the weights, they won’t chip or crack like some other dumbbells, which have a cement core. Each one is covered in a soft neoprene coating that not only provides a lovely, sleek yet colourful finish in the light blue, pink and teal colourway, but ensures that you maintain a solid grip on each dumbbell even if your hands get a little sweaty. Then, should you use the weights for push-ups (which they’re great for and help support your wrist more), each one has a hexagonal end which means they don’t roll. This means that for push-ups, you are supported, and during HITT workouts, you don’t spend precious rest moments searching for your weight that’s rolled under the sofa! Once you’re done with working out, the set comes with a sturdy rack stand so you can store your weights out of the way, ready for your next workout.
Overall, the Core Balance Hex Dumbbell Set with Rack is perfect for at-home workouts and would make a great addition to any home gym. With three weight sizes in either the 12kg or 18kg set, you can get a dynamic workout in, all from the comfort of your own home. Plus, at just under £40, you really can't go wrong with the functionality, aesthetics and storage!
