This is the world’s first Bluetooth speaker skateboard. Skateboarding is all about having fun. Whether you are young or old, you will smile when you ride a board. My passion for skateboarding started shortly after I could walk, and I have only ever ridden a shortboard or what most people would consider a ‘normal’ skateboard. I have never tried a longboard before, as I thought they would be boring! So, now that longboarding is becoming increasingly popular as a fun and usable mode of transport, I was curious to try the Pinner Longboard. This style of board is easier to ride than a ‘regular’ board, as they are less twitchy and much more forgiving than their close relative, which is more at home tricking its way up the street.
There is no doubt that Globe Brand produce a quality product, from the presentation box to the board itself. The Pinner is made from the finest maple and looks enticing, making you want to jump straight on it. It is low to the ground, and the wide, soft wheels make it fast, stable, quiet and very simple to ride. Adding in its responsive handling, the Pinner can cover terrain where a shortboard’s hard wheels would struggle, meaning this board will appeal to the beginner and expert alike.
Longboards come in many different sizes, shapes, construction styles and features. The Pinner is 41.5”, which is considered a mid-length longboard. It is designed to deliver quick, short carves or big turns and good maneuverability – a versatile choice that offers lots of momentum and flexibility to riders.
The maple deck of the Pinner longboard has a GSB speaker which integrates a 50mm driver and passive radiator, so riders can feel bass under their feet. The speaker unit is small and unobtrusive. It is impact and water resistant, and I even purposely gave it some abuse and it held up well. No drama here, and it still looks great and works perfectly. On a full battery charge from the provided USB cable, you can ride with your sounds playing at full volume for two hours. However, at 70% volume you get music for over six hours. The sound is crisp and clear with a strong bass - there is no doubt that the speaker they have used is excellent.
This longboard will not be a replacement for my shortboards, as they are two very different animals, but I am glad I tried it. I genuinely didn’t think it would be as cool and fun as it is. I love using it when I jump off the bus and skate to work - it is faster and more forgiving than my board, and a lot more transportable than my push bike. RRP £240
