The Arcteryx Beta SV jacket is designed for tough mountain environments. Available in a subtle black or grey, as well as bold ‘Macaw’ (blue) and ‘Magma’ (orange) options, it is made from a breathable N80p-X three-layer GORE-TEX Pro fabric that will protect you against even the harshest of weather.
This jacket is absolutely packed with protective features: it has taped micro-seams (1.6 mm) to reduce weight, no-lift gusseted underarms that mean you can stretch up without exposing your midriff to the elements, and e3D Ergonomic 3D patterning and articulated elbows to increase mobility where you need it the most. WaterTight external zips on the pockets, body and fly are highly water resistant but not completely waterproof, so Arcteryx don’t recommend storing valuables in the pockets. This seems a bit of a let-down for a zip called ‘WaterTight’. The jacket’s cord pulls are easy to grip even with mittens on, and the helmet-compatible storm hood has cohesive hood adjustments which are also easy to handle without taking your gloves off. The storm hood also has a laminated brim and can be adjusted for a secure fit that provides full coverage without restricting movement or visibility.
For added protection, the Beta SV has die-cut Velcro cuff adjusters that won't catch or tear off. The hem drops at the back for added coverage when bending over and it has an adjustable cord for a precise fit. There collar is nice and tall to keep you protected, and the zip guard on the inside stops that cold metal zip touching your skin. The jacket has two high-volume hand pockets, one quick-access internal dump pocket, an internal chest pocket with laminated zip and a left bicep pocket.
The Arcteryx Beta SV Jacket is a high-performing technical jacket: waterproof but breathable, lightweight but durable, the Beta SV will protect you in rain, wind, snow or anything else the mountain might throw at you, allowing you to enjoy your outdoors adventure. RRP £560
