New on the scene is the Transporter 65 Duffle Bag from Osprey. Their bags have been designed to be tough and “adventure proof”; this expedition-style duffel bag is made from highly durable materials, is water-resistant and has a varied carrying system. Large enough to accommodate technical equipment, it is made from a super tough, TPU laminated 800D Nylon+ 0.2mm, which has excellent durability whilst keep the weight to a minimum.
The transporter 65 features a yoked harness with sternum strap (with an emergency whistle that makes me feel ready for anything), to help spread the load across the body. This can then be stowed away in an integrated sleeve, it also has a fully detachable padded shoulder strap for another carrying option, as well as four grab handles that are useful when grabbing it out of the car boot or overhead compartment on a plane. To keep things organised, there is an external end pocket, a pocket under the lid, an internal key attachment clip, internal mesh pockets and an internal mesh side pocket, as well as internal compression straps to help to keep the contents in place. The ID card holder makes for quick recognition and the large U-shaped opening gives quick and easy access to all your contents. The zips are lockable, which is handy for when you part company with your luggage for periods of time.
The Transporter 65 weighs in at 1.41kg and has the max dimensions of 60cm x 36cm x 32cm. Transporter has four sizes in total 40, 65, 90 and 130 and comes in five colours: black, keystone grey, kingfisher blue, ‘sub lime’ and the brilliantly named ‘ruffian red’, which we received. They all come with a zip-up bag (yes, your bag comes in a bag) that packs the bag away for storage. This is a different design to what we are used to seeing from Osprey, and it’s a tough durable product. The only thing that bothered me was that when you use the back harness, your back comes in contact with the laminated TPU, which quickly makes for a very sweaty back. On the whole, however, this is a good bag ideal for tough travel conditions, overnighters or weekend breaks. RRP £120
