Falke was founded in Germany in 1895 by Franz Falke-Rohen. With over a century of experience they now produce a huge range of clothing, from high-end fashion to specialist sportswear. We were happy to get our hands on a pair of Windproof long running tights.

At a first look, these already seemed like incredibly well-made tights; the stitching is flawless and the material is strong, with subtle branding on the left thigh. Squeezing into these wasn’t a pretty sight, but once every lump and bump was in the right place they were incredibly comfortable. I have one pair of running tights that dig in around the waistband and I am waiting for the day I burst out the back of them (I don’t know why I haven’t thrown them out yet). There are no such worries with the Falke. The Windproof Long Tights feel supportive in all the right places, and the waistband sits comfortably on the waistline (with a funky neon drawstring to tighten the waist if needed). the ankles have zips to make getting in and out of them easier, as well as providing a little airflow for warmer runs, and the zip itself has a soft material cover when fully zipped up to stop it rubbing on the ankle.

Although the tights feel thick, they breath really well; the 96% polyamide and 4% elastane material feels lovely and soft on the skin, and after a long run in them my legs were dry and a normal colour (rather than bright pink and sweaty, which is my usual post-run look).

These tights have a zip pocket in the back but it is very small - you can fit your keys and a small mp3 player in here, but I have an iPod Classic and Samsung S6 and neither would fit in the pocket, which was annoying. There is a little reflective detailing on the front and back of the tights but as they are more of a winter clothing I would have liked to see more for extra safety.  As for having L and R on the backs of the legs this seems rather unnecessary, but I would love to meet the person who was so bad at putting on trousers that they needed constant guidance.

Overall, the Windproof running tights performed well, were super comfortable and with the polyester overlay on the thighs, they really do keep your leg muscles toasty on cold windy runs, keeping you comfortable from the moment you step out the door to the moment you return. RRP £110
