The Wool Wind Jacket has been designed to be a high performing jacket that disguises itself as a regular piece of your wardrobe. It is constructed from 98% worsted wool and 2% Polyester, a strong and durable fabric that has a lightweight synthetic panel concealed in the front lining to protect your core from the wind and keep you warm in nasty head winds. A mesh lining is also concealed in the back to assist temperature regulation.

The Wool Wind Jacket features a reflective tab on the collar for added visibility, and a fastening tab on the front to keep the collar closed and the wind out. The jacket also carries a concealed front zip for a minimal finish, a super soft micro-suede inside the back collar for comfort, two front pockets and a rear pocket for valuables.

Starting with the design, I think it is a bit of a love it or hate it situation. Personally, I don’t like the collar on the jacket when it is folded down - it looks too much like a work shirt, which I don’t want to wear unless I am getting paid. The fabric feels great, as we have come to expect from Rapha, but the fit isn’t up to the usual high standard: it is large around the shoulders and short on the arms, and seems to have been designed for a broad, stocky type. This left us rather baffled, as Rapha usually gets the fit dead on. The collar lock is a little fiddley and pops open with a lot of movement - a snap or Velcro would be better suited to keep the collar closed.

Overall, the Wool Wind Jacket performs well in bad weather. Its wind protection is great and you can see rain water bead off the material without the jacket becoming too warm. However, for the high price tag, I would expect a better fit. RRP £250
