As the motorbike market grows and more and more companies enter this arena, it is brilliant to see one of the most established brands maintaining its high standards and setting the benchmark for others to aim towards.

I love my motorbike gear to be so broken in that it feels like a second skin, and this can take months of use. So, I review gear on a number of criteria, such as looks, quality, durability, and also how quickly it takes to bed in, so I can fully enjoy the ride.

The Alpinestars Andes Outdry gloves are a summer/warmer weather waterproof glove.   They have a membrane that guarantees this waterproofing and breathability, and obviously, they are CE Certified, so you know your hands are in, well, good hands.

The Andes gloves come in black or green in sizes small to XXXL. They are a mix of leather and textile, and the fabric on the back is soft to make sure they stay comfortable for hours of riding. The goat skin palm is generally thought to be the best leather to use, as it gives a better feel than cow leather; I am not sure about this, but I do know that these gloves felt broken in very quickly and gave a good level of feedback.

These gloves have double closures around the wrist and arm. The first Velcro strap on the wrist is only small, with a larger one further up around the arm, which makes for a very secure glove that isn’t particularly bulky. I found that they fitted under the sleeve of all my biking jackets, giving good insulation and weather protection.

The thumbs and index fingers are touch-screen sensitive, so playing around with your phones or GPS works well. They also have a few reflective inserts to help visibility – after all, every little bit helps.

The only down side for me is that the length of the fingers were a little too long, but as they began to mould around my hand they seemed to bunch up and not be an issue.

These are a very good, light, comfortable and waterproof glove. Most importantly, I rode with them for a hundred or so miles and they felt like my gloves, and not new, unbroken ones. I really like them. RRP £89.99
