Dash cameras are a vital part of every journey, as they provide a reliable witness to events should an incident or accident occur. For 70mai, they know how vital a dash camera can be in an incident, and so they have spent the last 10 years developing smart dash cameras that can capture the road around you, whilst being fitted with the latest tech for advanced safety and security, whether you’re on the road or parked.
The latest innovation from 70mai is the A810S 4K Dash Cam, which builds upon the previous A810 model using customer feedback and real-life driving experiences to make an updated dash camera the most advanced for imaging and safety technologies. Fitted with a whole plethora of innovative features to ensure the road around you is captured in crystal clear quality, the A810S Dash Camera is designed to be the perfect companion for any journey you take.
Straight out of the box, the A810S Dash Cam features the main front-facing camera, which features a large picture display on the back for viewing. The main front-facing camera and screen attach seamlessly to your front windscreen using the included adhesive attachment panel. This attaches to your screen with an adhesive pad, and then the dash camera can be slotted into the attachment for easy installation. I like the slotting design because it means that the dash camera can easily be removed without dismantling the whole setup. Then, the dash camera comes with an additional rear-view camera, which adheres directly to the rear windscreen with an adhesive pad.
Once set up, the A810S dash camera system provides an impressive image quality, which is supported by 70mai’s proprietary MaiColor Vivid+ Solution™ that helps to reduce any glare and capture a super clear picture of the road around you. Plus, it has a built-in ROI algorithm for License Plate Recognition that helps to capture license plates super clearly, so if you’re in an accident, you know that you will have their number plate recorded in clear detail, as well as the event recorded in high quality. The rear camera then features a Sony IMX662 Sensor, supporting 1080P HDR video capture at 30 FPS. Collectively, these provide a great view of the road both in front and behind, so you know that should anything occur, you have it captured in crystal clear quality.
Whilst many dash cameras struggle in low lighting conditions, and especially at night, the A810S thrives as it has been designed for optimised image quality even at night. It achieves this thanks to the dash camera featuring Sony STARVIS 2 technology and 70mai’s Night Owl Vision™. Whilst Sony’s STARVIS 2 is designed for enhanced low light sensitivity, the 70mai’s Night Owl Vision™ takes this one step further to help balance exposure, reduce excess noise and control glare. Together, these deliver a clear, colour-accurate picture of events happening around your car, even in the worst of lighting conditions. However, the A810S dash camera even takes super dark conditions into mind, with its Lumi Vision. Lumi Vision utilises the same technology seen in professional filmmaking, where the camera has a longer exposure time and increases the ISO. These together help the dash camera to generate hight quality images with the same visibility as if they were taken in daylight.
Across all of these aspects, the A810S Dash Cam ensures that you have a reliable witness to any event that should occur. I love that with both front and rear cameras, you have a good overview of the road and cars around you. Plus, thanks to the dual-channel recording, you can view live footage from both cameras on the front display at the same time. The picture-in-picture mode allows you to see in real time that the cameras are capturing everything around you. Then, should an accident occur as triggered by the unit’s G-Sensor, the A810S Dash Camera is designed to capture footage showing up to 3 minutes before the event and 30 seconds after. These clips are then saved, allowing you to have quick access to complete video evidence should you need it for insurance claims or police reports.
Whilst the camera is the perfect companion whilst on the road, the dash camera features many innovative 24/& Parking Guardian features which operate even when you’re not driving. Using AI Motion Detection, the A810S Dash Camera has been designed to instantly detect suspicious movement near your vehicle. It does this by identifying any threats to your vehicle, and then the camera will start recording on both channels for 30 seconds to ensure that, should anything happen, it will be captured on both front and back dash cameras. Furthermore, the parking mode also engages the G-Sensor so that any sudden movement of the vehicle from impact will be captured even whilst parked.
Thanks to the A810S dash camera being 4G enabled, it can be connected to your phone, where it can then deliver updates on your vehicle should an incident occur. This is perfect for alerting you if your car has been hit and then allowing you to directly access the dash cameras and livestream what is happening or review the footage of the events. Plus, with direct communication between your phone and the dash camera, you can track the location of your vehicle, even when you’re not in the car and download video remotely with ease.
The camera will also notify you should the car’s battery fall to a critical level. This is essential because to use many of the parking aspects, the dash camera needs to be hardwired directly into your car’s battery to allow it to power on and capture footage even while the engine is off. Therefore, the camera will alert you if your battery is running low to ensure you can prevent your car from being dead when you get back in, and to allow the dash camera to keep operating. However, I will note that the A810S does not come with the 70mai 4G Hardwire Kit ($59.99) as standard, so this will need to be purchased as an additional kit.
The A810S Dash Camera is powered by a supercapacitor, which provides a reliable and eco-friendly source of electricity compared to a traditional battery. The supercapacitor is designed to withstand extreme temperatures and can endure 500,000 charge and discharge cycles to significantly reduce the risk of overheating. Thus, the camera is designed to work year after year, no matter the weather or conditions, to ensure you always have a reliable witness to the events on the road. In terms of storage, I was glad to see that the A810S Dash Camera comes with a 128GB microSD card as standard, so you can get started using the dash camera straight away. However, the dash cam fits up to a 512GB microSD card.
Overall, the 70mai A810S 4K Dash Camera is an excellent dash camera option that will provide a high-quality and reliable video capture of the road in front and behind you, so should an accident occur, you know you’re covered. With a range of innovative features that cover you whether you’re on the road or parked, the A810S is an excellent option to have secured in your vehicle for an extra layer of protection for every drive you take.
Pros:
- High-quality image and video capture– even in poor and low lighting conditions
- 5 Layer G-Sensor for easy incident recording both whilst driving and whilst parked
- Innovate AI motion detection when parked to enhance safety
- Complete connectivity with your phone via the app for real-time tracking, notifications and video downloading
- Comes with a 128GB microSD card for vital storage
Cons:
- For some of the parking features, you need to hardwire the dash camera into your car’s power source so it can turn on when the engine is off. However, the hardwire kit does not come included with the dash camera and instead is an additional purchase. I’d have liked to see this included with the camera.
