How Am I Weird is a fun card game that allows you to explore your weirdness, as, in the game, giving the most weird and wonderful answer is the whole point!

I was super excited to try out How Am I Weird after seeing it win the best party game at the UK Games Expo 2023. I brought together a group of delightfully weird friends, and we gave it a go. The game is fairly simple; the game is split into 3 card types which are life cards, comeback cards and weirdo cards. To play each player is given 8 comeback cards which have a range of weird (as the name of the game suggests) reactions, which will be played when a life card is played each round.

The life cards outline a situation for that round, which requires each player to choose a comeback card in reaction to this. However, should you not like the comebacks in your hand, or you can think of a weirder and often funnier response, each player is given a weirdo card which they can play and then provide their own comeback. The winner of each round is decided the ‘Big Chief Weirdo’ of that round based on which comeback answer they like the most. The winner takes the life card, and the next one is flipped to enter into the next round. The goal is to win as many life cards as possible and determine yourself as the chief weirdo of the group.

The game is super easy to play and even has a more compact version of 300 cards that is perfect for taking with you on the go this summer. We all loved playing this game and witnessing all the weird comebacks that people came up with. We especially loved that you could completely cater the time length to how long you have, as the number of rounds you play is completely determined by how many life cards you choose to play – this can be anywhere between 10 or all 100 in the set. However, playing all 100 at once may take some of the fun of the randomness in future plays when all the players have seen every card already. But I don’t think this is too much of a problem when the comeback cards are so random, and the weirdo cards present a whole host of funny and organic comebacks for each game.

If you’re on the hunt for a new game that is quick and easy to play but will have your entire group of friends laughing at the weirdness of people’s responses, then this is a perfect choice. The standard (500 cards) and square editions (300 cards) mean you can pick the best one for you determined by whether you're bringing it out for a game night with friends or throwing it in your bag to play on the go. Ultimately, How Am I Weird is a fun game that everyone will love.
