The winter months are quickly going to be upon us, and as the temperatures outside start to plummet, many of us are turning our home heating systems on to try and avoid seeing our breath when just watching TV. However, with energy prices going up and up, finding energy-efficient solutions that can keep your home warm, without your bills going through the roof can be a struggle. Thus, electric heating systems are often a go-to solution, as they provide a cost-effective way to heat a single room without needing to put the central heating on in the entire house. This complicated situation is one that TCP are trying to remedy with their range of smart heating solutions that can warm up your room and give you more control over your temperature, without seeing a huge bill at the end of the month.

We got to test out the TCP Smart WiFi Wall Heater, which is a wall-mounted horizontal downflow heater that is designed to quickly heat your room with just the touch of a button. The heater comes with the wall fittings needed to hang it on the wall, and you just need to find the perfect location and drill into the wall according to the included installation instructions, and then hang the heater on the screws. Once installed, you can turn the heater on using the front control buttons, then select your desired mode setting (timed, scheduled etc) or temperature, and the heater will get to work warming your room. The current room temperature will be displayed on the heater’s digital screen for continual room temperature monitoring.

However, if you’ve installed the heater quite high up, it comes with a handy remote, or you can connect the heater to your phone via the TCP Smart App, where you can control the heater completely from your device. On your device, you can also adjust the settings and modes to make heating your room even easier without needing to get up and turn on the heater itself. Plus, you can even connect the Smart WiFi Wall Heater with Alexa or Google Home to activate the heater with voice controls alone – making turning the heater on and warming your space super easy.

The heater is powered by a 2000W ceramic heater, which provides powerful heat despite its compact size. Thus, the heater can warm up a small room quite quickly, which makes it a cost-effective way to heat just a single room, rather than turn the heating on in the whole house. This quick heating design aims to help cut down on your overall energy usage, and in the process help save you some money – something we could all do with at the moment!

I like that you can set specified schedules and timers in the TCP Smart App to ensure you don’t have the heater running when it is no longer needed, but can also ensure that your rooms are heated to a comfortable level on a regular schedule for all year-round comfort, no matter the weather outside.

Overall, if you’ve been on the hunt for a new electric heater option, but don’t like the look of floor-standing ones or don’t have the space for one, the Smart WiFi Wall Heater provides a useful wall-mounted option that will heat your room and keep it toasty, whilst saving you money from putting the central heating on in the process.

Pros:

  • Quickly heats up your room
  • WiFi controlled for easy powering on and temperature control
  • Wall mounted design to save space

Cons:

  • Requires drilling into the wall to hang the heater, so it wouldn’t be a great option for renters who can’t damage walls without permission from landlords
