I always open any package from DEWALT with slight trepidation, and the DCK264P2-GB (a name that simply rolls off the tongue) provided the office with a little extra panic as I wandered about with not just one but two nail guns in my hands, like some DIY mad Billy the Kid (unloaded of course; I’m not even trusted with a Nerf gun).
This twin pack comes with a DCN692 fix nailer, a rear-loading 30-34° magazine with the capacity for 55 nails - it accepts 2.8-3.3 x 50-90mm nails and has an impact energy of 105J (dimensions 345L x 125W x 338H mm) which allows you to fit the nailer easily In between 400mm joist centres. A DCN660 fix nailer, a rear-loading 20° magazine with the capacity of 110 nails - it accepts 1.6mm 16 guage x 32-63mm nails and has an impact energy of 48J. There are also two 5.0Ah XR Li-ion batteries, a charger and the DS400 ToughSystem kit box. Both nailers are gas-free and brushless: the brushless motors produce longer run times, offer quicker readiness to fire, less recoil and more durability when firing short nails.
The mechanical operation offers consistent performance in the harshest of environments, and will be ready to work in temperatures between -20°C to 50°C. Both nailers have LED fault indicators, tool-free jam clearance and reversable belt/rafter hooks. A ‘Sequential mode’ lets you get a precise placement of each nail, whilst the ‘Bump mode’ lets you fire nails out at speed. The DCN692 fires 50-90mm framing nails at up to two nails per second and comes with two speeds to choose from : low speed for 50-63mm nails and high speed for longer nails up to 90mm. The 30-34° magazine angle will accommodate most dipped head and off-centre, roundhead paper-tape or wire-weld collated framing nails. The Dry Fire Lock-Out ensures the tool won’t fire without nails in the magazine and the contact trip lock-off switch prevents an accidental discharge of fastener - you know, like firing nails into your foot.
The DCN660 fires 32-63mm 16G nails at up to four nails per second. It has a non-mark tip included in the kit, a stall-release, a thumb wheel depth adjustment, a trigger and has a contact trip lock-off too. There is also a handy LED work light to help you find your target in low light. Both batteries have charge level indicators and take maximum of 75 mins to charge from 0-100%. The watertight, air-sealed case is super tough and will protect your nailers from both external damage or falling into the wrong hands and are held in place with foam inserts and Velcro.
Don’t let the battery operation fool you into doubt the strength of these tools; they performed powerfully and accurately with minimal vibrations and comfortable applications. Suitable for stud wall insulation, roofing, floor board and cladding installation. RRP £833 + VAT
