You might be forgiven for thinking that a strong pelvic floor is only something women need to focus on after having a baby, but in fact it is equally important for men to keep the muscles strong - especially in later years. A strong pelvic floor can help to control bladder and bowel functions, as well as playing an important role in sexual function, by preventing and treating pelvic pain and lack of sensation.
There are two way to exercise the pelvic floor muscles with the Kegel8 For Men. Now, I can already sense some fellas crossing their legs in anticipation of how it might work and yes, there is a probe and yes, it gets inserted into your back passage. However, the insert is slim and designed to be comfortable, and after a couple of goes it becomes second nature. The second way it is used is to place the skin electrodes on the perineum (Google it).
Once the Kegel8 is in place, you can choose from the eight pre-set exercise programmes: Urinary Incontinence 1, Urinary Incontinence 2, Maintenance of Healthy Bowel Movement, Achieving A More Satisfying Erection, Urinary Incontinence 3, Pelvic Floor Strength, Pelvic Floor Max Strength. There is also the option of 3 customisable programmes that can be programmed by a clinician should specific treatment be required.
Kegel8 recommend using the neuromuscular electrical stimulation for one session a day to see improvements - it does all the work for you, so you don’t have to worry about whether you’re are exercising the right muscles. The Kegel8 For Men isn’t cheap, and I think for the price they could have thrown in some lubricant and cleaner to get you started. It also comes in a not so discrete, oversized case - I’m sure a more compact case could be designed.
All in all, the Kegel8 For Men is a useful device that could seriously improve many aspects of men’s health. The exercises take a little getting used to, but after a couple of weeks you will see the improvements are worth it. RRP £149.99
